Ribbons string from the crevices

Tracing through the blanket of water

Kool-aid packets staining the porcelain

Rings of strawberry rimming the water’s edges

And it’s so sweet,

Fruit punch mixture filled with sugar

So addictive, so attractive

And the gleaming silver spoon stirs deeper,

Faster

Watermelon blackening to cherry

And the adrenaline fades, and I need the sugar rush

A sip of kool-aid won’t help anymore

This pitcher held the aftertaste of cyanide
