I lie in bed all day
In my cardboard shack

There’s snow outside
And I’m having a heart attack

I don’t have the energy
To get out of bed

Just one question
Keeps running through my head…

Oh!
Why doesn’t she call?
Why doesn’t she call?
I can’t wait forever…
Why doesn’t she call?

We met at a party
And talked until 4

Then back to my ‘partment
Made love on the floor

That night, it was perfect
Yes, we had a ball

I gave her my number
And told her to call

Oh!
Why doesn’t she call?
Why doesn’t she call?
I gave her my number…
Why doesn’t she call?

Now I can’t leave the phone
It’s been a year

That heartless landlord
Turned me out on my ear

We only had one day—
The best of my life

She never told me
She’s someone else’s wife!

Oh!
Why doesn’t she call?
Why doesn’t she call?
I can’t wait forever…
Why doesn’t she call?

I gave her my number
And told her to call

Why doesn’t she call?
Why doesn’t she call?
