Firefly

Laugh if you want

But you don’t have to

They say you’re a loner

But you’re just alone.

Break it all away

Down to the roots

Down so deep you can’t see

Pitch night dark

Fears and secrets

Hopes and desires

Please tell them

Let them escape

Don’t be afraid of the dark

Cause you’re so full of light

Firefly dancing in the night

Can’t see its own shape

Only sees the moths fluttering close

Cast light and shadow

Over a tomb like entrance

To a world unknown

By those blinded by the growth

Of darkness in their souls

Do you see it now?

Can your darkened eyes

Pierce through the black?

Discern the hidden light inside

Down within the doubt

Self denial of self worth

What are you worth?

The world to me

If only you could see

That you are worth the same as everyone else

But to many lives you can be worth

Your weight in gold

My room is cozy

Filled with the lights

Of a thousand captured fireflies

Caught on brain waves

Remembered from dreams

So the sun may fade

But not forever

Remember the light

Look to it in the dark

Call to me so I can show you

The way out.
