Breath

It’s senseless these daysHow everything is apparently
Just falling apart
With my best friend.
First we laugh about everything
And the next I’m stung
By a scorpion.
I need to get away from
This deathrace
But how can I
When I promised him
I wouldn’t?
Ever?
I want to be in the sun
And have it cleanse me.
Although the rain here
Can alleviate the senses like
A cool glass of water
The light above us has been painted black.
One day I hope to leave this life
Where I walk like a somnambulist
Through the mist hanging low at my feet
To the summit of Tomorrow
Where I take my first breath in days
And finally open my eyes.
