I’m Gonna Miss You.

A/N: Inspired by Graduation (Friends Forever) by Vitamin C. From a senior guy’s POV to his best friend.

Again, dedicated to L.

And so the day has come and we have to part

No more detentions and no more playing truant

’Cos we’re seniors now and we gotta be serious

No more jokes and no more misdemeanours.

-

Do you remember that time when we played that prank

Involving Mr. Phillip’s coffee and Herr Kretschmann.

And there was then when we represented the school

Remember how we won and made ’em all our fools.

-

All those damned surprise quizzes and stupid history tests

Remember how we used to compare t’see who got less

And all those after-school sessions with Ms McLeed

We took bets to see just how soon she’ll fall asleep.

-

It’s been four years now and at last we’ve arrived

At our graduation ceremony and ready to dive

Ready to shed the jokes and pranks to grow into

Responsible adults who’d never “play a fool”.

-

So now Mister Croftsfield is calling our names

And clever li’l Dex is named valedictorian

In my mind’s eye I see that time during chemistry

During freshman year when we called him Ms. Dee-Dee.

-

But all too soon we’ve gotten our diplomas

Parents begin snapping pictures and making a fuss

And the girls start hugging and throwing their caps

Singing love songs loudly and crying in packs.

-

That’s when you and I know we gotta say goodbye

Our friendship now has to more or less die

’Cos we gotta head off to Cambridge and Harvard

Me to become a lawyer and you a doctor nerd.

-

No more football practices and no more locker chats

I’m gonna miss our monthly private bowling match

You said it’s the same; we just won’t be meeting much

But deep down I know it’s a lie to which you clutch.

-

So I guess this is it where we shake our hands

And try to take our separation like a man

Slap your back heartily and wish you all the best

When deep inside I’m actually a crying mess--

-

I’m gonna miss you like hell, Max.

A/N: Ya like it? It’s hard trying to type like an American. Anyway, if you do like it, review then!
