I had a dream about you last night
At a concert and then I held you close
We kissed and could not let go
And now I hold you tenderly in my mind
Upon a crumbling pedestal of glass
Lips closed to each other for months
Opening slowly to give way to tongues
But there is no voice speaking in this silence
Just hands holding clasping tight
Enveloping us in white light away from shame
Just holding you with our mouths pressed so tight
Unwilling or unable to let go
This perfect utopian paradise gives way to
A disruption – an alarm shattering this fragment of mind
It’s 6:30 AM and it was never real
Go back to your life and hate yourself for one more day
Maybe try to grasp at wisps of thought
And sharpen the focus on the window into your soul
And give her a chance
