Withdrawing Further

When the cloud fell from the sky,

I was happy.

It felt warm and misty in there.

Later, I realized,

That cloud was supposed to be my corner of heaven,

It’s fallen and evaporated.

After this,

I grew a monkey tail.

Now EVERYBODY can know that I have a stigma.

Withdrawing further into my shell now,

Withdrawing further, thanks.

I’m tired of seeing the goat-faced men behind the scenes,

They beat sheep you know.

They beat their faces until they aren’t recognizable.

Don’t touch me,

I’m unclean.

I caught the disease so just—keep away. Best stay over there.

So sorry it had to end this way,

It can fell the mightiest of us,

And I had so much potential…

Withdrawing further into my shell now,

Withdrawing further so I don’t have to show my face.

They’ll find me pretty fast since I’m the only thing in black & white.

They’ll beat me too you know.

Remember me as I was, you won’t recognize me anymore.
