They Write

Someone once asked me about a character in my story
some personal, trivial face
They wanted to know the answer
right then
I didn't know how to react...
For within my spun-up stories
There is no set of rules.
I don't really mine the metals,
I just present the jewels.
Want to know about the character?
That priceless, special gem?
If you want to know so badly, then,
Don't ask me, go ask them!
I've never written a story,
Not a person
place
or thing.
They come to me and write themselves
I set their spirits free.

So true. Criticism?
