A/N: It's been a long time since I posted a poem on this site. Anyways, this is the final copy of a poem I wrote for my Creative Writing For Non-Majors class. I hope you enjoy it.

Betrayal

Creeping, creeping, creeping
Slowly from the shadows
Saliva dripping from your gleaming fangs
Mixes with the crimson blood
Of your previous shattered victims

Stepping into the light
You greet my travel-weary soul
As though you were a long lost friend
You hide your true nature…your true intentions
Beneath a mask of friendship and beauty

We continued on with the journey
Walking side-by-side down the bright path
You laugh and smile through the unseen mask
And in my trusting way, I believed all I saw
Thinking you were my friend

Breaking from your place
You push me on ahead
Laughing I lead you down the winding path
Never once seeing that smirk
Hidden beneath that invisible barrier of lies

You pounced without a breath of warning
Throwing me upon that rocky ground
Eyes shining with the bloodlust
Eyes shining with tears and fear
Struggling for its life
Battling the other

The fight of tears and fear
Gave way to fatigue and sadness
While the blood lusting mind overpowered
You pinned me unmovable to that rocky ground
Your hand tipped with razors hovered overhead
Waiting for its command to strike

Darkness surrounds my icy soul
The light stands before me
Beckoning me to enter its domain
Smiling in gratitude I decline
For the mark of your betrayal will stay with me forever
And my scarred and bloody soul will never trust again
