Dreams

DemiDemocratik

--

I have a dream today!

-

Dr. Martin Luther King, Junior

--

Eyes upon these lines

Eyes upon these lines

Crying eyes upon these black and white lines

Circling multitudes of whiteness

Shadows walk within the dark

And the run down

Songs of dreamin’

Fill the dark

Those black and white lines

Like knives through youth

And when the daylight comes

Still, black and white

Cover your hands over your eyes

Too cruel for you to see

Cover your ears, pretty little girl

Do not hear them scream

Well, folks, I have a dream

Grown in the darkness

Fueled by thought

Look at me

Look at my dream

Walk with me, brothers and sisters

Join hands and sing this song

We cannot walk alone.

And as we walk, we must make the pledge that we shall always march ahead.

We cannot turn back.

If you do not like my dream, friends

May I say that you have never dreamed?

May freedom ring?

So silence breaks

Like a liquid bullet

Silently flowing and ebbing

With a pulse like my own

This pulse raised in darkness

This pulse you have denied for so many long years

This water is ours to drink

May we shed light?

Light shining like the sun of Georgia

Over little girls and boys

Who one day will love one another

For not what they see

But what they feel

Little children in Alabama

Who once saw only blackness

Only fear

Deep in my heart, I do believe

They shall overcome some day
