I think back,

On the days past,

Yesterday and before,

Last year and longer.

I stride through memories,

I walk among ghosts,

Waiting for their deliverance,

From this unholy world.

I see things forgotten,

I forget things memorable,

I lose things lost,

I read the unwritten.

-

My mind reels at the thought,

Of the never ending tomorrow,

My heart skips,

At the mention of the future.

-

I sit and I listen,

I wipe my tears clean,

The bells are ringing,

Ushering in the next day.

-

I’m forced to move on,

Pushed along,

In the flood of emotions,

Breaking their dam.

-

I live for today,

I fear tomorrow,

I forget the past,

I’m drowning in uncertainty.

-

Misguided,

Is my plan,

The wish as clean,

As paper before the poem…
