Sad eyes gaze out upon a calm ocean, so unlike their owners turbulent heart.
A placid, alabaster face, turns toward the setting sun. The skies afire with flames of light, burning as intensely as her invisible pain.
Feathered eyelashes flicker, eyes glisten with tears, so like the salty water of the ocean. Trembling shoulders fall as she cringes, clutching her fists to hold her tears, clenching her eyes closed in a pained struggle. “I will never be so weak…”
Why did she love?…Why? She’d known it would only bring her pain, and it had, so why? Why had she let down her walls, why hadn’t she been more careful?
Through her mind runs rampant memories. Many of them so happy but they dwindle down to memories that are sad, and then fall to those memories that are now the gaping wounds on her heart.
“STOP! No more!...No more…” She sobbed clutching her fisted arms about her. Her heart, her bleeding heart, she wished it to die, but it refused to cease its painful beating.
“Fine! Live if you must, but you shall never love again…I refuse to allow another to touch my heart….I refuse to allow another such a chance…” Pained eyes, turn cold, like her now transformed heart, snap open to look out icily upon the heated horizon. The two blazed a war. Frigid eyes, against the dying sun. The ice would win with night.
Reaching out an arm with a fisted hand toward the fun, she offered her sacrifice to satisfy the heat.
Opening her hand to the skies, the wind took hold of all her joys, and loves, and all that made her feel, off into the skies, fluttering like jeweled butterflies.
With empty eyes, and a hollow heart, the last remnants of her soul fell from her eyes in a single tear, her final memory of him…falling to the sea.
And the sun turned its back to this soul…so cold.
