Mother's Grief
Poem from Star/Legacy. Can anyone guess who's POV it's from?
Possessing any mother's worst fear
Sitting alone crying sorrow's tears
Night has come and away day sped
No words can my soul asure
Nothing gives my pain a cure
My little golden son is dead!
Never again shall I see his face
Nothing else could him replace
From my sight him they stole
I was a mother and now have none
For their own damnable deed is done
And with his life went my soul
The hated hawk did take my dove
Destroying the innocent life I love
They laughed even in his final breath
Strewning his feathers on the ground
In the garden such traces I found
Proudly they announced my boy's death!
I shan't again hear the songs he sung
With hate my mother's heart is wrung
Oh God in heaven's cloud-lined nest
As the shadows of grief fall over me
Accept my little golden son to thee
And fold my darling to thy breast
Here will I stay and alone stand
Wishing for my golden son's hand
As I hope one day I shall see
Those who took my son away
By my own means shall pay
And pray my babe return to me!
