Afterword(s)
Well, I suppose you’d kick me if I said that Jake and Chelsea didn’t fall head over heels in love and get hitched. So, that’s what happened: they were already smitten with each other. If you were to drop by two springs after that last chapter, you’d be witness to a lovely wedding that married Chelsea Shepford and Jacob Lawson. My, but it was wonderful. Kitterly’s reconstruction was long, but it was powerful, and the Kitterly that emerged from the siege was stronger than ever. Quincy took no time at all to try and imitate Kitterly’s unity, and Brewbury (though slow in admitting it) followed suit. The ferrying business picked up speed (terrible pun, I’m sorry) and Jake had a job again.
Since I’m not about to write another story about our friends from Kitterly, I’d best tell you where everyone ended up. Mr. and Mrs. Shepford lived long lives in Southwestern Kitterly as grandparents of twenty-something children. Mr. and Mrs. Lawson also lived wonderfully long lives, but went a-missionarying for a few years before settling in for retirement. Robin studied medicine and did indeed become a doctor. Last but not least, Jake and Chelsea loved each other until the day they died and even beyond that. Their children? Someone else can write that!
“Elizabeth Fielding’s Elusive Solution” will be posted beginning today. It is a story using the same voice as “Kitterly” and hopefully it will have the same success (or more...). Thanks again to everyone! Bye!
