Heaven by Your Side: Chapter Two
High School Drama and Attraction
Aiden groaned inwardly and rubbed his eyes. The stupid, ice blue contacts left his eyes aching and it burned irritatingly. He wasn’t used to wearing them for especially a long period of time. Desperate times calls for desperate measures as people say almost cynically. He left his Pre-Calculus class just because his damn contacts were bothering him too much to ignore. Plus, when he removed them he found out that it left red marks on his retina. His older brother told him he should always wear the contacts at all times at school. So it was very annoying to say the least.
The boy’s bathroom on the third floor reeked of male sweat, ( if you can imagine how disgusting that was) , and cheap cologne. The urinals were stained yellow, “liquid soap” wasn’t even in their vocabulary and you would even shudder to wonder how an all-boy’s school can live with toilet paper. It was horrifying. It was definitely petitioned strongly against by most of the well- you can say, gay population of the school. Though no offense was made of course.
Aiden closed his eyes and splashed cool water on his face. He fumbled to grab a paper towel from the dispenser on the wall when he felt a hand press one against his hand. The moment he made contact with the stranger’s hand it felt like sparks that met with their touch. It sent pleasant tingles all the way down his spine. He quickly brought it to his face to dry it and looked up to see who it was. The bathroom was already empty. Save for the hazard swinging red doors that told him, whoever gave him the paper towel left already. Weird...He shrugged it off and decided to head back to what ever class he had.
Which way was it again? Damn...
He shoved his hands into his leather pant’s pocket and decided to let his feet guide the way, the chain linked to his pants clinking rhythmically all the way down the empty hall.
Chael managed to get away from the boy’s bathroom as quickly as he tried to will his quickly beating heart to stop racing so fast. He felt blood rushing to his head as he gasped for breath, leaning against the cool, red brick walls. He stumbled on his feet and caught himself before he could fall again, sitting on a window ledge. He brought his legs up and buried his head into his crossed arms. Chael sighed as soft, warm rays of sunlight shone down on him and felt the cool, fall air caress his exposed arms.
The boy-no man, he met in the bathroom was heart-wrenchingly gorgeous. He still couldn’t shake off the lingering effects of their hands meeting. And the familiarity of his touch shocked and scared him. He somehow felt the other’s calloused but tender hands caress and touch him before. Whoever he was, he would know soon because they might meet anytime and anywhere in this school. Chael wouldn’t even mind asking his computer-genius older brother to hack the stranger’s student record for him.
He didn’t get to fully study the stranger’s profile or even see his eyes, but he knew that person had looks to kill. He was wearing tight fitting leather pants that showed everything. And a heavy leather vest to show the black muscle shirt underneath. Chael had to stifle a giggle that escaped his mouth and sighed at the thought of those perfect, tanned muscles and the things they could do. His fingers twitched at the idea of running his hand through the other’s silky yet unbelievably messy black hair. Now that he thought of it, they were almost complete opposites! Tan and pale..black and white...
Chael’s hand went automatically to the necklace he had on. The chain was made of pure silver and had on the end dangling a perfectly cut diamond. It was surrounded by tiny, intricate silver chains forming a beautiful shell around the diamond. It was always his favorite because it was his mother’s favorite also. Touching it made him always feel much better. It sparkled on the light and he loved the way the silver looked on his pale, white skin. It gave almost a shine to everything.
He suddenly was hit by the fact that he was probably thought to be cutting his dreaded Social Dance class by taking so much time in the bathroom and groaned. Shit! He should go back there as fast as he can or he could be dragged to the Principal’s office. Not wanting anything bad to be recorded on his record, he released his grip on his necklace and jumped off the window ledge. He looked at his watch and meeped, taking off in a run the opposite way.
This is so not gooood!!
Chael caught up to the Social Dance room 2 floors down from the boy’s bathroom in just a minute and a half. He ran a hand through his hair and quietly walked in, trying to ignore the angry looks being sent his way. He especially ignored his teacher’s heated glare as he tried to explain that the reason he took too long was because he had a really bad stomach ache. Chael rolled his eyes at the teacher’s unbelieving look and yell of “45 MINUTES?!” and handed back the bathroom pass, making his way back to his seat.
The teacher returned to the blackboard with a exasperated ‘HMPH’! She resumed writing the notes on the dance they were going to learn soon.
He tossed his head and shut out the frantic whispers and pointed fingers. He caught the whispers of everybody, and knew it wasn’t important to even listen to. Who did they take him for? He wouldn’t sink to their low level at all! He looked up at a particular loud whisper that caught his attention.
“ Isn’t that the Ciel? Getting away with all the rules eh? I bet he thinks he can do anything he wants.” The sneer evident in his spat out words.
Chael caught the eyes of the person who said it and raised his eyebrow, not threatened or riled up at all to be mad.
“ Wanna bet on it? ” he asked softly, a possible threat underlying his words. He knew that words could back him up anytime, and he knew how to prove it too, without any doubt.
The boy flushed angrily and was pulled away by his ugly, cohort of friends to a far corner of the room. Chael sent a bored, uninterested look at the group that was sending him disgusted glares. Chael thought people like them mingle like flies to a pile of dung. Stupid and disgusting, not even providing enough brain power to think for themselves. He knew they were probably discussing ways to get him back.
Chael made a mental note to tell Damien of this, and settled back comfortably in his chair, smiling indulgently. Even if they did act out on their stupid plans, he knew someone who had enough power to put them in their place. His brothers..So this is what older brothers are for, he mused wonderingly. His smirk, not at all innocent was scary enough to send people running away if they saw it on his face.
He took out a sketch pad, ignoring his teacher’s incessant lecture and began sketching a picture of the boy he met in the bathroom. He finished his sketch 5 minutes before the bell and walked out the door the minute it rang. Chael wanted to catch up with Ryan during Lunch and ask him about his encounter with the stranger. He smiled innocently as he walked pass his teacher who was spluttering furiously at his rudeness.
Chael pushed down the sleeves of his white hoodie and walked into the crowd that was all struggling to reach the Lunch room. Skillfully, walking around large groups that were just standing there and stray book bags coming his way, he reached the two double-doors of the lunch room. He grasped one iron handle and pushed the old, orange doors open. Chael stood up on his tip-toes and scanned the room for Ryan. He smiled as he saw Ryan’s flurry hands waving for him to come, all the way in the other side of the lunch room. They always sat in the corner table because it gave them a view of all the other tables. It felt good that they were the only ones to claim this table as their own. Ryan actually graffitied their names with spray paint on the underside of the table.
Chael’s white, sneakers squeaked on the newly polished laminate floors as he walked towards the table where Ryan sat. He plopped down on the long table and grinned when Ryan immediately grabbed him by his hands and dragged him away to get food. The loud hustle and bustle of lunch period always grated on his nerves but it was also a period he got away from classes and hang out with Ryan.
He winced as students pushed and shoved into him to get the best tray in the huge pile where it sat near where the food was. Lunch ladies were screaming over the students and were constantly asking them what they wanted. He shuddered at the sight of that mysterious brown blob of food on Ryan’s plate. Deciding not to risk getting sent to the hospital, Chael grabbed a bottle of water and dragged Ryan to the cashier.
He slapped down a ten-dollar bill as Ryan reached into his baggy, cargo pants and tried to find some loose change in the numerous pockets. Ryan grinned in relief and happily strung one lanky arm around Chael.
“Man, Mondays are the best. Mystery meat!” Ryan exclaimed loudly for everyone to hear. Chael resisted the urge to gag. They made their way to their seats and sat down. Chael took out his binder and flipped through the sections until he reached English. He began writing his thematic essay for a question the teacher asked the class to write, all the while listening to Ryan’s babbling of a far-fetched story.
“ Did you hear Nelson Mendelin threw up in Chemistry Lab today? Oh my freakin god...he threw up all over the acids and chemicals on the table and somehow it exploded. That explains the purplish goop on the ceilings eh? Others say it was Bobby Christian’s bring-to-school lunch because I doubt that, he brought a ham and cheese sandwich today. Anyway no more Chemistry Lab until the school fixes it up. I hope it takes at least 3 weeks or more to clean all the crap from the ceilings”, he snickered and said this in one breath while stuffing his face full of mystery meat.
Chael only stared in slight disgust and apprehension, pen poised over his paper. He closed his opened mouth and shook his head. He placed his chin over his fist and grinned at Ryan.
“You are such a weirdo you know that?” Chael wrinkled his nose and flick a piece of bread away from his face that landed on him while Ryan was talking so fast.
Ryan smirked, “ Yeah you know you love me for that, babe” Chael slammed a textbook on Ryan’s hand and watched as he groaned in pain. Smiling satisfactorily, he jotted down the last few sentences to his essay.
“Speaking of babes, what happen to your stalker/ boyfriend?- Not that he’s a babe of course.”
Chael winced and shrugged slightly. “Beats me, he’s always off somewhere doing something. He calls all the time but I don’t know exactly where. He is ALWAYS cutting and I have no idea why.” He rolled his eyes and sighed. “Ricky is a great boyfriend if and only if I had exactly a good picture of what he thinks all the time.”
Ryan grunted and ran a hand through his unruly hair and leaned forward. He spoke lowly trying not to let other people hear it, “ Rumor has it running around the school that one of your family’s hated enemy is running around unchecked. I don’t even know if Damien or Darius knows about it, just to warn you Chael.”
Chael gasped and emerald eyes widened almost dramatically. His heart beat faster and he felt his pulse quickened just like when he ran away from that stranger in the bathroom. He felt his head pound and felt almost light-headed. Only when Ryan reached and shook him a bit with a firm grip, he felt a little bit better.
“This is not good for anyone Chael. It’s going to be fucking chaos if one of your brothers find out about ANY loose Seatons. I have no idea how you’re going to handle all of this, maybe even trying to see if the other guy knows about you. I heard this rumor run about mostly from Red’s gang, so fuck if I know if they’re telling the truth. All you gotta do is find a way to reach that guy and tell him. Even the Seatons know not to get into any all-out war.”
Chael pressed a shaky hand to his forehead and sighed in frustration.
“How would I know and how would I try to even get across to a Seaton? Ryan, what if THEY declare war on us. My brothers are going to kill me for even trying to fraternize with the enemy!
They made sure to even check every school record so no Seatons are in this whole school. I mean what if the Seaton in this school doesn’t even want to cooperate or something? I’m so dead!”
Chael groaned and buried his head in his arms.
Ryan glanced at Chael grimly. “Whatever happens, I know I’m going to back you up no matter what. But only so far is when I get my butt whipped for helping you buddy.”
Chael sat up and looked straight into Ryan’s serious brown eyes. “I know and that’s why we’re friends right? Even if you can’t go all the way for me, everything you’ve done had been your all...” His emerald eyes showed the clear frustration and the hidden tears that were not shed.
He rubbed his eyes tiredly and decided to tell Ryan about his encounter with the stranger he met today. After he relayed what happened entirely to Ryan, Ryan rubbed his chin and looked thoughtful.
“That doesn’t sound like a Seaton to me...They always have their signature silver eyes don’t they? I guess you gotta be careful and maybe even look at this guy closely. Funny, I never heard of the guy ever. Sounds new, but also it sounds suspicious.” Chael smiled gratefully at Ryan’s reply. Trust Ryan to always be serious during one time and completely hysterical the other.
“Thanks a lot.” Chael smiled softly and began stuffing his binder into his book bag when the bell begin to ring.” Ryan grinned and together they began walking to their final class of the day, Art Appreciation.
Aiden reached the Art Room before anyone else was in the room so he took the time to survey some of the paintings and sculptures that were displayed in a glass case in the front of the room. He twitched in annoyance when students began pouring in through the front door. He chose a seat in the far back near the windows and watched as the last of the students trickled in after the second bell rang.
The chains looped throughout his black pants clinked against the metal seat as he shifted to examine his classmates. Someone in particular already sparked his interest the moment he walked in. He griped his ballpoint pen as he watched a breathless blonde ran into the class, emerald eyes sparkling with laughter. His blonde hair was windblown and messy but almost endearingly cute to watch. His pale cheeks were rosy red from running all the way to the class.
He watched the slim figure walked almost gracefully with an air of confidence to his seat in the other far corner of the room. The teacher looked at the person almost spitefully before moving on with the lessons. He watched as a smile weave on to the blonde’s lips stunningly as he realized he got off without being sent to the principal’s office. He heard a faint sigh of relief from the other side of the room and felt shivers run down his spine.
Aiden oddly thought the late comer was stunning. His pouty, red lips were something you dreamt of crushing against your own. He shuddered and looked away before he was tempted by this beautiful sight again. He didn’t think like this before, so why was he thinking about a complete stranger like this?
Before he could answer himself he found his eyes straying to the form on the other side of the room. He vaguely heard the teacher call out the attendance when the blonde raised a pale, slim hand. He cursed himself for not catching the beautiful boy’s name, and willed himself to find out eventually.
Aiden tore his eyes heatedly away from the beautiful boy that captured his gaze and thoughts. He shook his head frantically to relieve painful jolts going all the way down to his groin. He yanked out his favorite sketch-pad and a soft HB pencil to sketch whatever that came to his mind. His pencil flew fast and furiously and before he could even stop to think what to draw; he had already drawn something.
A stunningly beautiful being with flowing blonde hair was bleeding profusely on an archaic-style bed. What made it even more erotic was the flowing black silk entwining around the being and the angel was blindfolded and nearly naked save for the twisted silk ropes biting harshly into creamy, white skin and covering his nether regions. It was so erotic and wanton.
But the expressions on the angel’s eyes were simply indescribable. So many emotions in those eyes; can be read differently if you were to ask someone else. What he saw for himself was pure untouched love despite the pose the angel was in. And that was something that scared him.
Before he could even contemplate how his thoughts led him to this picture, the paper was snatched up from his desk. He looked up; startled and met the disapproving eyes of the art teacher.
Mrs. Malikin’s eyebrow shot up nearly to her hairline.
“As beautiful as I find your artistic skills are Mr. Seaton, no drawing in my class without my permission!” she told him frowning sternly, with her foot tapping disapprovingly. Aiden rolled his eyes and glanced away before taking back his paper. She walked back to the front of the room not before giving Aiden a look.
She glared at the people who giggled at his expense and the twitters slowly died down to murmurs.
“NOW!” She rapped smartly on the huge oak drawing tables that were situated in the art room. “Everybody gather around here so I may tell you all about what you will be doing this year!” Her voice rose at the end of the sentence and waited until her students bustled loudly around to find a seat on the oak tables.
Aiden dumped his book back on any seat he deemed that was farther away from his teacher and sat down. He closed his eyes and crossed his arms, leaning back into the chair. He opened his eyes when he heard a soft thump on the seat next to him. A whiff of vanilla cologne assaulted his senses when he found himself staring into stunning emerald eyes again. He used all his power of will to turn away from the very person his mind was fighting again and tried to regulate the unusual fast beating of his heart.
Chael
didn’t know what to do when he saw the same exact person he
encountered in the bathroom except to feel that somehow the Fates
were laughing wickedly at his expense.
He decided to take a seat
next to him anyway and cursed himself for feeling so self-conscious
and vulnerable. He felt unexpectedly drawn to his commanding and
powerful aura. He let his eyes drift to..what was his name? Aiden was
his name, wasn’t it?
He eyed the baggy black grey jeans Aiden wore to his very oh-so-sexy muscle shirt underneath his tight leather jackets, wonderingly. He gazed at Aiden’s closed eyes and wondered how they would look up close or if they would be looking at him. He shook his head and berated himself mentally for checking out the guy who was only couple of feet away from him! He let himself drift back to the teacher’s lecture as she informed everyone that they will make huge paintings between assigned groups of two of any chosen subject.
He sighed inwardly and wondered what he would get himself into. He languidly leaned forward to cradle his head between cupped hands and waited for his name to be called out. Chael stiffened with something akin to horror as he heard the teacher call out his name.
“Chael, you will have the pleasure of working with the wonderfully artistic Aiden next to you.” No one missed the sarcasm dripping from the art teacher’s words and students snickered in chattered conversations with their partners.
Chael turned and gasped softly when he met ice blue eyes that seized him up immediately. His heart pounded and he couldn’t will his body to move anymore. He shivered slightly at their heated exchange, feeling the undisguised tension pricking between them. His lips parted but no words came out so he stifled a squeak that rose from his throat. Chael felt so embarrassed at his lost of composure and a bit ashamed too. This was so out of character for him!
He felt tremendously relieved when he watched Aiden nod, acknowledging his partner. Chael regained a bit of himself to shyly bring out his hand for a handshake. He marveled at the rough, calloused feel of Aiden’s warm hand. And felt his hands were impossibly small to fit into Aiden’s bigger, firmer ones.
“So! Now that you are all acquainted with your partners, you may now go ahead and discuss with them; the possibility of what you will be painting. All the supplies will be in the art supply cabinets as you know. And may I remind you all that you will have tons of time to finish this painting! It’s worth 30 percent of your grade so make sure to spend plenty of time with your partner working on it!” With that being said, Mrs. Malikin strode away to finish her paperwork on her own desk.
Chael watched the rest of the pairs of students to drift away and start on their own paintings. Most of them were still talking away he mused. He willed himself and then softly placed his hands on Aiden’s jacket who himself seemed to be thinking of other things. Aiden jerked against his grip and he let go quickly.
“Um..so..What do you suppose we should paint?”. Chael blinked and waited for Aiden’s answer.
Aiden’s reply came out a bit hoarse in his opinion or he could’ve been hallucinating..
“Here.” Aiden handed Chael the paper he was doodling on earlier during the period and watched Chael’s face studiously to see his reaction. Chael’s eyes widened noticeably as he took in the picture.
Chael said softly with a wondering smile, “This is the most beautiful drawing I had ever seen! I had no idea how talented you are Aiden..”. Aiden looked away a bit flushed as he took in the look on Chael’s face.
“Anyway..if we’re doing this painting I guess I should be the one modeling for the life-sized painting while you paint me, alright?”
“Yeah, how about we meet today at 7:30 in the art room so we can start right away? Can you come around that time, or..?” Aiden trailed off.
“Yes! No problem!”, Chael agreed quickly smiling at Aiden. “ I have to admit..with the lack of clothing in this picture, I’m a bit scared.” he laughed softly.
Aiden twisted around to give him a smirk that said all-the-better-my-dear. Chael felt a bit of his old self come back as he answered Aiden’s advances. He gave Aiden a bit of a come-hither look that made his emerald eyes smoky with coyness. Chael got up and left the class as the bell rang.
Aiden was so sure that Chael’s hips had an extra swing to it as he watched Chael move away, just to tempt him. And Chael’s hips weren’t the only thing he was admiring.
6:30 that same evening..
Chael tossed his entire closet onto
his bedroom floor as he ransacked its whole entire contents for a
perfect outfit to wear to his meeting with Aiden. He growled with
frustration and whimpered pitifully in despair. He moaned, begged and
pleaded Damien to borrow his blue stylish button-
down shirt that
knew looked simply glamorous on him. Chael banged on the door for
hours when he was unceremoniously tossed out of his brother’s room.
He lay on the floor dead as a zombie until he heard his cell phone vibrate in his pants. Sniffling a bit, he picked it up and immediately perked up as he recognized the caller’s voice.
“Need help with an outfit?” said the suave voice on the phone. Chael grinned excitedly.
“Dari how the hell did you know?!”
“Sources...my dear little brother. Anyway remember that designer outfit I bought Dame last year for his birthday? He still hasn’t opened it..the ungrateful bastard. Say hi to him for me anyway.
I’ll be back home in a couple of days. Don’t wreck the house until then, brat.” The phone line clicked off.
Chael hummed happily and dashed off to get his killer outfit for tonight.
Aiden brushed his hair back and slipped on a pair of slim leather gloves to keep his hands warm. The chill air made his skin turn red from cold. He decided to walk back to school instead of driving because he liked walking by the bright city lights during the nighttime. He slipped inside the art room and set up the huge canvas and glanced at the sketch that would go on the painting.
He grabbed some acrylic paint that were already left on the table and got some oils too. Aiden set the huge canvas to face the direction of the couch that Chael would be modeling on..
Speaking of Chael, he was 10 minutes late and Aiden shook his head. Maybe he wouldn’t come?
With that being said in his head, he heard the large art doors bang open.
Chael strode in with tight-fitting leather pants that seamed to cling desperately to Chael’s stunning backside. Also complete with a leather choker, he managed to fit it perfectly along with a blazing blue designer shirt. Aiden discreetly managed to see Chael’s diamond necklace sparkling on his chest.
Aiden drew a breath. Did he do all this just to impress him? Shit..if he had known...he would’ve dress to impress too. Chael walked to Aiden and smiled expectantly at him.
“So...where do you want me to take off my clothes Aiden?”
