Walking into the dark room
Out of the light
Of the world that isn't ours
Next door is the bomb shelter
But we couldn't be bothered to go in
In a circle we sit
The room dim, the candles are alight
Voices fill the room
They are not ours, but our lips are moving
Strange incantations
Around us, brighter than the heavens
As we chant:
"Freedom to those who live and breathe
May they live in peace, I hope."
The words flow and continue
But the room darkens again
Explosions break the silence outward
Eyes closed, we remain seated
The chant quickens, and morphs:
"Protection to those who cry and mourn
May they bleed in silence, I hope."
The candlelight dances and spins
Screams fill the room
They escape our lips
But the chant continues
The room itself no longer of this world
Our souls drift on the edge of existence
As the words turn to screams:
"DEATH TO THOSE WHO MURDER AND DECEIVE
MAY THEY SUFFER IN FLAME, I HOPE."
The world falls into blackness
Millions die by the second
Land burns and crumbles away
Ashes of life disappear
Good and evil are annihilated
And the chant echoes:
"Destruction to those who brought about the death of innocence. In apology we pray.
…Amen."
