Imperfection: A Poem in Two Parts

i.
I hope you have children
And I hope you don't fuck them up
Like your mother did you.
It may sound harsh
But that's life, right?
I haven't been half as angry at you
As I should have been
So I'll get it out now
And be done with it then.
I feel like you took what I offered
Chewed it, swallowed, then
Threw it back up.
Yeah, I know,
Beautiful way of referring to
One of your many problems;
I'm such a fucking poet.
I know it.

ii.
So,(in closing,)
Thanks for the rejection
And all the introspection,
And despite the disconnection
I write with much affection
To tell you your selection
Of this general direction
May cause an interjection
Of your inner insurrection.
I'll blame your predilection
And you'll blame my reflection,
Just remember self dissection
Won't get rid of imperfection.
