She walked around in a mask,
trying to hide,
the little girl she still was on the inside.
She dressed herself up in skimpy clothes,
pierced her belly button, lip, and nose.
Ran with a crowd of kids twice her age,
cut her arms to express her rage.
She smoked half a pack a day,
and laughed in their faces,
when her parents expressed their dismay.
Inside though,
lay a scared little girl,
who was growing up in a frightening world.
Society pushed her out to the edge,
where she stood teetering on a narrow ledge.
A place where this girl sold her body to the world.
in the midst of a universe,
full with chaos and confusion,
another child sits behind an illusion.
another girl robbed of just being a kid,
sliced away from her childhood at the age of eleven.
