Until I Met You

Everyone has secrets,

We all have hidden pain,

Everyone has a past,

And scars that refuse to fade.

And I am no exception,

There are scars upon my heart,

Wounds that caused me to close it off,

To keep my life from coming apart.

I made myself a promise,

And incased my heart in ice,

I swore myself off love,

And began a better life.

Now I’ve stepped into a whole new world,

Unaware of what I’d find,

I never intended to break my vow,

But the you came and changed my mind.

What magic did you use,

To implant yourself inside my mind,

To dive inside my soul,

And unfreeze my heart with just your mind.

I was perfectly fine without you,

My days were filled with laughs and smiles,

Sure, I lacked a loving touch,

But gone were the pain and trails.

But now when I look at you,

My eyes get caught, I tend to stare,

And I wonder how your skin feels,

And what it would be like to run my fingers through your hair.

But I could never tell you,

I can never let you know,

No matter how much it hurts,

These feelings I can never show.

So I put you down, I call you names,

To cover up this burning love,

Because know that if I tell you,

Only pain will come.

Thanks to you, I can never close my heart again,

Now that you’ve wormed your way inside,

And because I’m so darn stubborn,

I’ll never know what love feels like.

All I know, all that I’m sure of,

In this crazy life of mine,

Is that I’ve never felt this way before,
