Renaissance Shades

by fabian cortez

Velvet rouge reflect

Raindrop tears, as your

Buds wither to

Season’s denigration

Of your flourish

-

Yet such opulent

Majesty would lack

Inspiration, in great

Abundance, if regularity

Were in force

-

Still a head finds

Hands of comfort in

Despairing moments

Knowing well

Nothing can defer

Singularity of fate’s

Display

-

Arms reach up

So palms can cup

An anguished face,

Fingers dragging hair

Between, as if to

Rend away an ache

That recurs & is

Expected

-

So then bat away

The starlight’s eyes

Of reassurance,

Breathe a sigh

At rainfalls

Inspiration, for

Even moonlight’s

Sway is cast asunder

To a soul that’s

Closed its door

-

Radiance, shine only

When ready, for

Such a canvas presented

In renaissance shades,

To eyes blurred

By a life considered

Unrewarding,

Goes unrecognised

-

So rose petals lay

Unattended, in the

Rain
