Heroes

Hey there, from Badger and her make-shift friend Plop. So, here is another of my poems. I think i got a bit annoyed at this one, from watching to many of my mum's army movies where they're all like "Ooo you killed someone, well done." But it kind of speaks for itself so i'll shut up. See you guys soon!

Cuts in their flesh, where they’ve looked before,
And seen their soul bleeding through.
I don’t think you, know what a hero is,
Did they tell you, over spikes in the back of you?

Raising a weapon, that could pierce the skin,
A hero lies way down, in the heart,
I don’t think you, realise it’s from further within,
Let’s replay; let’s take it all back to the start.

Is this what you think, or were you told?
Is this all there is, all there is to hold?
Bathed in black blood of those you’ve slain,
Tell yourself that, tell yourself it again.
You’re a hero; does it sound good to you?

They were doing the same you know,
That person whom you killed,
With ten bullets through the head,
They were told they were a hero too.

And it’s nothing; you are nothing, if you don’t know,
Vanquish a small shard of pan, don’t hide,
I’ll be the first to, look through the stains,
I can see it all, and I know there’s a hero inside.

Dropped to the ground, and never said a word,
Never killed a soul, never vanquished the pain,
Fighting for what they thought was right,
And no one ever waved a flag for them,
And they did not get a funeral.

In fact the body still lies there, alone,
For the media did not let it be shown?
That on that battlefield that day,
At least one hero died.

So if you think it’s right, raise your weapons,
So if you think it’s right, do what your told,
But just do not let them call you hero,
For allowing your soul to be sold.
