Epilogue

The sun was shining the next morning, drying up the puddles from the night before. The bad weather had melted away, just like my own personal storm had faded, leaving me in the gentle warmth of a promising morning.

Or ya know, any other cheesy metaphor you can think of.

Basically, I was happy. And it was nice. I couldn’t stop smiling as he slipped the blind fold over my eyes.

“Boy, if you smudge my make up, I swear…” I warned. He planted a soft kiss on the back of my neck.

“You’re in safe hands,” he assured me.

“Speaking of hands, maybe later you could put yours…”

“Maybe later,” he cut me off. “I have a surprise for you.”

“If it’s you naked on a bed, can I have it now please?” I giggled, enjoying the feel of my hands in his.

“Is sex all you think about?” He laughed, pulling me in the direction of my surprise.

“Not anymore,” I confessed. “I’m not the selfish, self centred, vain person I was.”

“Thank God,” he chuckled.

“Oh haha,” I rolled my eyes behind the blindfold. “If I was such a toad, why did you fall in love with me?” I challenged.

“Because toads turn into princes. Or in your case, princesses,” he replied. I could feel his smile.

“Awh,” I sighed. “I’m the luckiest boy in the whole wide world,” I smiled, hopefully at him.

“You won’t hear any arguments from me,” he agreed. I felt his arms around me and instinctively tilted my mouth to his.

The kiss was a slow burner - there was passion there, obviously. I was so passionate about him that even thinking about him gave me a good down low tickle. I opened my mouth ever so slightly (I’m a tease, get over it) and sighed into his mouth when he placed his hands on my neck.

“Mmm,” he pulled away first and lay a tender kiss on the top of my nose. “Come on, I’ve still got something to show you,” he started to lead me in whatever direction.

“You mean I didn’t see it all last night?” I asked with a fake gasp. His laughter was like music to my ears and I gave his hand a gentle squeeze.

“Ok,” he stopped and placed his hands on my shoulders. “Keep still.”

I waited patiently as he removed the blindfold. I blinked slowly as everything came into focus. Lying on his king sized double bed was a red guitar.

It wasn’t exactly like the guitar of Peter’s that I had smashed, but it was an almost identical replica. I let out a squeal and picked it up. The familiar weight of it was comforting and I felt beyond comfortable standing there with him and the guitar.

“You like it?” He asked quietly. I put it down and flung myself into his strong arms.

“I love it, and I love you!” I exclaimed, showering his face and neck with half formed kisses.

“I love you too,” he smiled, catching my lips in his for a lovely kiss. “I never thought for a second you’d choose me,” he confessed.

“Why not?” I asked. “I love you, truly, madly, deeply,” I smiled softly. “You are everything I’ve ever wanted,” I explained.

“Ok that’s our corny moment for the day,” he blinked away tears and cleared his throat. He handed me the guitar. “Come on, I’ve got a song to teach you,” Skylar said, pushing his fringe from his eyes.

I frowned, wanting another moment, another kiss. Then I realised we had our whole lives to have moments and share kisses. When I chose Skylar, I didn’t just choose a boyfriend - I chose a best friend, a teacher, a pupil. I wanted every single part of him, including the guitar teacher.

“Yes sir,” I replied with a roll of my eyes.

“Sir? That sounds kinda kinky,” he winked, placing the guitar back on the bed.

“Does it, sir?” I giggled, pulling his slender body to mine.

“Sonny, we have a lot to do.”

“And we have our whole lives to do it,” I pouted.

“Are you making a commitment?” He faked a look of surprise.

“Don’t sound so surprised. It took me a while to get here, but I still made it,” I pointed out.

“You sure did,” he smiled. “Now let’s make something else,” Skylar purred with a glint in his eye.

“See, that sounds like fun,” I grinned, closing his bedroom door and joining him under the covers, in his arms, where I belonged.
