Daybreak

Heaven's candlelight
perched so confidently
atop daylight’s blue,
all its kinsmen retired,
hiding beneath a cloak of invisibility.
A glorious flame
marred the sky with red,
overshadowing it -
a mere candle
against the presence
of a furious fire.

Around it
the season of autumn bloomed
when beneath
spring had just woken
from its deep slumber.
And, following its kinsmen,
the candlelight disappeared,
in a wisp,
a flicker,
running behind
the storm of feigned tranquility:
the gray on blue,
the white on black.

It shall remain deceased
Until a pale-faced exorcist
rises
to come for it.
