"The Climbers"

Sickness dredging up unpleasent memories

All of us surrounded by the Popcorn Nazis

Watching murders in black and white

Curb your tongue, for we aren't where we're meant to be.

Incessant demands made by the mind

Go back in time, Before these rhymes

Remember when you loved her,

Before the blue vinyl stole her soul.

We were like atoms with covalent bonds,

Lights and Darks,

I was the littlest criminal,

The stongest sled-team ever bred was us.

Two by two we made the laws

Caught the stars,

Drank ourselves to sleep on Life

Who guessed we'd end up torn and battered?

Sang along to songs that made no sense,

Played on trees to small for us,

Climbed higher to find the ground

wasn't that far away.

All dressed in my clothes

Drowsy in the cushions

Her lap was my foot rest,

But now I'll be cold.

Accusing and lying,

Cheating then hiding,

I saw it all from the necessary windows,

Invisible reactionaries with duct tape kept me from telling.
