There was once was a girl named Annie. She was an orphan because her father had died in the war that was a couple months passed and her mother had died out of grief. One day Annie walked to the market to get some food. As she was turning back to go home the prince of the land and his men rode into the town. (The town happened to be the capital of a small country.) One of the men stepped into Annie’s way on his horse making her lose her balance.

The prince heard Annie’s cry and turning around rode back to where she was. Helping her up he asked if she was alright. Annie nodded and thanked the prince before gathering up her bag and going home.

The next day the prince, having found out from the town’s people where Annie lived, came to see her. The prince told her about needing another maid for the palace and offered her the job. Annie needing the money agreed. The prince took her to the palace where Annie started to work as a maid in the prince’s wing.

As the weeks passed Annie and the prince grew close and then even closer. The prince wanted to marry Annie but knew that he wouldn’t be able to because of the fact that she was a commoner and he the crowned prince of the land, the next king. Annie knew this and tried not to get to close but she soon lost her heart.

One night Annie walked outside and stared up into the stars. Letting out a low cry Annie asked the stars for their help into making her a princess so that the prince could marry her. The stars answered her in the form of Orion.

Orion told Annie that he couldn’t grant her the power to be a princess but he could grant her one thing. To be part of the stars and have the prince look upon her every night. Annie agreed knowing that Orion was right and that she would still be able to watch over her love.

The next night after Annie was taken into the stars the prince came outside and looked up at the stars. He found a star that reminded him of Annie and asked it why she left him. Annie answered that she wanted to always watch over him and this was the only way. The prince pleaded with Annie, saying he wanted to be with her but Annie told him to become the best king ever. Though it pained him to the prince agreed and he went back into the palace.

Every night it is clear a star will be shining brightly and a prince will be staring up at it till morning comes.
