Chapter 5
Emotions, a whole new world and sacrifice
“What happened?” asked Clara, who broke the silence.
“I think thats our enemy!” timidly spoke Sara.
“Come on! We can get showers first” said Clara as she jumped out of her bed and gathered her clothes and washing stuff to go downstairs for a shower. Faith and Sara soon followed.
During breakfast Sara saw many people coming in with two red dots on their neck.
“We need to go in tonight” whispered Sara.
“You're kidding right” asked Aaron who nearly chocked on his toast. Sara shook her head.
“I think the camp is going to be in danger other wise unless we go in and fight” said Faith.
“But we don't know the world at all” whispered agreed Aaron.
“I say we need to risk it beside we have a good leaders” said Faith who playfully slapped Sara on the back. She shivered yet smiled.
“Yeah” smiled Sara with unease. She knew she was meant to lead yet she didn't feel she was brave enough or even clever enough to do so.
After breakfast Sara got ready for her activities.
“You think your so special don't ya? Must be amazing to have a guy take to youI mean you're probably not used to it” venomously spat Danielle. Sara tried to ignore Danielle until stood in front of her. She stood at the doorway.
“Let me out” shyly said Sara.
“Sorry mouse I didn't quiet hear that!” meanly said Danielle as she grabbed Sara by her t-shirt. She forced Sara to the ground. Sara felt her brain jumping as she hit the floor.
“If I hear you have been grassing me again Miss Perfect I will make sure you don't walk out being able to walk got it!” said Danielle. Sara nodded. Danielle left. Sara forced her self off the floor. Her head was like a heavy bowling ball. Bruises scattered across the side of her head and face.
Once Sara got up she went to the bathroom to clean up. She looked in the mirror. She then filled a basin with cold water to wash away the blood from her lips.
“She's been picking on you hasn't she?” asked a voice form behind Sara. Sara jumped and turned around. She realized it was a stupid thing to do. It was only Clara.
“It's ok I'm not gonna hurt you” smiled Clara. Sara cried.
“Come here” said Clara as she gave Sara a cuddle.
“I can't lead! Let Abe lead! He's a lot stronger and better than me” said Sara. Clara sat Sara down on a bench near the window.
“You can! You don't know yet what you are capable of. It's new to everyone Sara. You're not alone in leading. We're a team! And Abe's not going to abandon you” said Clara.
“But what if I...” started Sara.
“You mess up? They'll be a way to fix it. You know I used to get bullied by Danielle” said Clara. Sara looked shocked.
“Why? you're so bubbly and friendly!” said Sara. Clara smiled.
“When I was younger I was quiet overweight” explained Clara.
“But you're really slim now” said Sara.
“Yeah, some of it was in a really unhealthy way though. I used to starve myself. All because of Danielle. Once slimed down she started to physically hurt me. She's a bad girl, Sara. She's not worth it at all. You gotta tell someone else about Danielle” said Clara.
“I...can't” said Sara. She wiped her face and went down stairs. Clara sighed as she went to the dorm.
At lunch the group discussed there plan for going in to Glamoura.
“Ok me and Sara both agree that we go in at half one to night we go in. Me and Aaron are down at the wagon so sneaking ain't gonna be a problem” said Abe.
“How do you know we are down at the wagons?” asked Aaron with a mouthful of pasta in his mouth.
“Aaron! chew your food!” said Faith. Aaron did a mock army salute as he began to chew the food that was in his mouth.
“I did research” said Abe , tapping his nose as she pushed salad onto Sara's plate.
“You asked you dad didn't you?” said Aaron as he drank water. Abe nodded.
“Sooner we go in the better. Those with red marks on there neck have been drowsy and I think it's something to do with Glamoura” said Faith.
“Like a magic curse?” asked Clara. Faith nodded.
“How are we meant to deal with that? I hate to burst people's bubbles but we are only kids” asked Aaron.
“If there is a will there's a way. Work things out tonight ok” said Sara. She saw Stef walk over near there table. Everyone began to eat.
“I can't help but feel you guys are up to something” said Stef as he looked particular in Abe's direction.
“We aren't up to anything!” said Abe.
“That's a first!” said Stef as he walked away.
“He's onto us! We need to be careful” whispered Sara.
“You think!” sarcastically snapped Aaron.
“That's nasty!” said Faith. Aaron grunted as he finished of his pasta. Sara started to drink her water. She saw Danielle glaring at the corner of her eye.
After lunch the group were at riffles. Sara and Abe were talking about going into Glamoura.
“Do we have to do it tonight?” asked Abe as he toke a shot with the riffle and missing.
“Me, Clara and Faith saw last night what we are up against and I tell you it isn't pretty!” strongly argued Sara.
“I just don't want you hurt! I mean you're...” said Abe. Sara sighed.
“The main leader I know but its me or loads of campers. Or indeed many other children in Scotland” said Sara.
“I wasn't about to say that but you do have a good point there” smiled Abe. Sara toke a shoot with the riffle.
“What were you about to say?” asked Sara as she gave the riffle to Abe.
“It doesn't matter! We'll carry out the plan then” said Abe as he toke a shot with the riffle and hit the target he aimed for.
“Cool” sighed Sara.
Sara couldn't sleep that night. She was scared to fall asleep in case she didn't wake up and let her whole team down. She silently jingled the large keys in her pocket which was accompanied by her glasses case and the prophesy
“Sara! Come on its quarter past one” whispered Clara. Sara slipped out of her bed and tip toed to the door. Faith was outside waiting.
“We better move” whispered Faith. The three girls crept down the stairs, being careful not to fall or make a noise. Abe and Aaron were waiting at the bottom of the stairs near the cupboard.
“You go the keys?” whispered Abe. Sara held up the keys. “Nice one”. Sara smiled.
She tried the keys in the door and found one which turned naturally and opened the door. A bright shinning light shone and nearly blinded Sara.
“Princess” a voice boomed the small entrance hall.
“I'm here” said Sara, sounding braver than she looked. Suddenly the light got brighter and made Sara disappear.
“SARA” shouted Abe. The rest stood in shock.
“Step into the light. See how far the rabbit hole goes” boomed the voice. Abe stepped into the light and soon followed by Aaron. Clara and Faith, timidly stepped into the light together.
Sara opened her eyes and was amazed. The world had two sides to it,one was dark with snake-like thorn plants and the other was light and had trees which were like helter-skelters.
“Wow” was all Sara could say. Abe stood beside her and was quickly followed by the rest.
“Where do we go?” asked Aaron. The rest looked to Sara. Sara's pocket burst out with a bright light which seamed to point to the darker side.
“This way!” said Sara in fake confidence. She lead the way with Abe beside her.
“Is it just me or is Abe making every opportunity to be close to Sara?” asked Aaron.
“They'd make a cute couple” shouted Clara without meaning to.
“Shhhhh!” said Faith. “They are good friends. Leave it at that. We have a world to save Aaron. Stop trying to play match maker”. Faith stormed ahead.
“Touchy” said Aaron.
“She's probably just tired” sweetly smiled Clara.
“Abe does like her though” commented Aaron. Clara looked confused.
“FAITH?” shouted Clara, almost without thinking.
“No Sara but I didn't tell you” said Aaron.
“Ok I won't say at all” almost whispered Clara. Aaron sighed. He knew it wasnt going to be a secret for long.
Wind began to rustle around the five teenagers. A shiver crawled up Sara's spine and he face became whiter than chalk.
“What is it Sara?” Abe questioned concernedly. Before Sara could answer a voice boomed around them.
“Well, well children we finally meet” boomed the voice. Almost out of no where a a woman all dressed in black expect her red straggly hair appeared. The same woman who nearly destroyed Sara, Faith and Clara. Sara stood like a block of ice.
“You...you nearly hurt us last night!” stammered Sara. The woman cackled which made Sara in particular uneasy..
“Yes my pretty and i would have destroyed you if it wasn't for your pesky magic” said the woman. Faith stood in anger. Faith gritted her teeth and bared them while she talked to the woman.
“Who are your and what magic are you talking about we are just ordinary children” Faith with a certain amount of being feisty spoke to the woman.
“I, THE GREAT CHARSHMITLOTTE, DON'T NEED TO INTRODUCE MYSELF TO MEASLY CHILDREN” the woman spoke with an air of importance. Aaron pushed Sara and Faith out the way.
“WHO DO YOU THINK YOU ARE? WE AINT MEASLY CHILDREN?” shouted Aaron as he attempted to punch Charshmitlotte but some how stopped mind way like as though there was an invisible barrier around her. She gave an evil smirk and coy laugh.
“PATHETETIC!” screamed Charshmitlotte. Aaron's face of bravery had slipped off his face Charshmitlotte, almost out of no where, created a huge fireball and hurled it to Aaron. He fell back to his feet and screamed in pain.
“AARON!” screamed Faith who rushed to his side. “You'll pay for that!” Faith venomously spat out . Almost like a snake.
“Now! Now! That's not way to treat your elders! Now how about a game of catch the bat?” asked Charshmitlotte as she sent bats towards Faith. Faith tried to fight bats off while trying not to be scared of them. Sara was frozen with fear. In between spells Charshmitlotte gave a glazed glance over Sara. She saw Clara begin chained to a tree. She glided over to Abe. She lifted her hand. Sara couldn't bare it. She found it within her self to find her voice.
“STOP” Sara screamed as she began to cry. Charshmitlotte floated in a circle to face Sara.
“What is it that you want?” asked Sara. She was trying to be brave but her shivering hands and snow white skin were telling others differently.
“The princess of love” cackled Charshmitlotte. Sara stepped forward even more.
“no Sara please no!” whispered Faith.
“I'm the princess of love. Take me! I'm what you are looking for. Let my friends go.” commanded Sara. Charshmitlotte stopped all the spells and created a bubble around Sara which began to float. She dropped her gold locket.
“NO SARA NO!! TAKE ME INSTEAD” shouted Abe. Before Sara or Charshmitlotte could answer both had disappeared. Abe was left clutching the gold locket.
“I failed her...” cried Abe.
