Looking through my broken box of memories

Picked up the faded image of life

Long since left behind

Corners still crisp

Picture taken

And then tossed aside

Hidden behind a veil of dust

That seeps through the cracks

Of a broken box of memories

Sifting through my busted book of thoughts

Found the idea of a dream

Long since forgotten

Petals still fresh

Flower pressed

And then stored away

Obscured beneath a cover of grime

That crawls up into the corners

Of a busted book of thoughts

Hunting through my beaten bunch of hopes

Recovered the remnants of a goal

Long since dead

Fabric still soft

Dress packed

And then cast out

Buried by a storm of time

That rips and tears at the seams

Of a beaten bunch of hopes
