She sat alone on the bed, the dissheveled covers tossed carelessly to the side. Strands of her long blonde hair fell about her face as tears coursed down her cheeks. She held a knife in one shaky hand, the edge already stained with blood. A thin cut ran along her arm, the blood soaking into the sheets around her. It was simply too much to deal with.
She hunched over the kinfe and her bleeding arm, wishing she could reclaim the shattered remains of her heart, but every times she tried to pick up a shard, it bit into her fingers. All of her fingers were bleeding from trying to pick up the pieces. She knew she couldn't, at least not right now. She hat to wait until the rain and sand dulled the edges.
She wore a mask. She wore a fake smile platered on her face, pretending everything would be okay when it never would again. The world had turned a sickening, listless shade of gray. The colors had faded, the happiness dulled, as she watched from a world all her own. She watched silently, the unseen tears rolling down her face, as she steped over the broken pieces of her heart. Her feet were raw and bleeding, but she learned to ignore that pain long ago. It was physical pain, nothing more. The cuts would heal, but her heart would never be the same.
She spiraled down in a wave of depression. It would never be the same.
A tear dropped from her jaw and landed on the shaking knife she clasped in her hand. She watched through tear-blurred vision as the small droplet of water mixed with the thick, red blood.
Maybe it would just be better to end it all, to escape and fly through the open window. Her heart was already broken; she wanted to go somewhere that it didn't matter, somewhere it wouldn't hurt anymore.
Another singe of pain blossomed on her arm as she dug the knife deeper and deeper. The blood flowed more feely now, no longer soaking the sheets, but drenching them in a red river as her life flowed out of her.
She just wanted to escape, to leave this world forever, to fly, to be carried off on the white wings of an angel....
