Empty Spaces

-

Bittersweet smiles

Eyes dry, throat closed

Muffling shock in the silence.

Quiet settles

Blanketing the door that

Closed this morning.

Hurt and longing,

Staring walls

Oppressive, gaping windows.

Empty space

Filled with objects

Void of purpose.

Waiting for two weeks

To find their owner

And reclaim themselves.

Now they lie,

Layering dust,

In a room stuffed with empty spaces.
