Children

Threats, betrayal, hatred

Is that what our children see?

When they open their eyes to this world

Fighting, anger, pointless lies

They won't know the happiness.

We’re leading them to a fate

We tried so hard to destroy

But in our prejudice, self-hatred

We alone created it.

What will they see when they wake?

A dawn with a blood red sky

Or no sky at all,

The world grown dark with hate.

Can we save them?

Before it is too late

Stop the pain, the suffering

Is it so hard, that we are unable?

To laugh at our own mistakes.
