Comments, whatever: Came in a dream. A very interesting dream. Maybe all the medicine is useful for something after all. In the dream, however, it was song to which I still remember the tune. Oddly enough, 'Robbie' is the name of the brother of a friend's boyfriend. ...Go figure. And as a note, not a word of this will be changed.Otherwise, enjoy!
Robbie-
The air was cold and painful, your face was slightly pale,
"Let's go somewhere, I can't stand this,"
I took your hand in mine and led you down the halls,
Away from all the sickness and
Into the black velvet night.
You smiled a little weakly at me and whispered a hoarse 'thanks,
And I nodded just a bit and we got into the car,
"I want to go somewhere warm,"
"I want to go somehwere far."
My memory betrays me,
Of all that happened then,
I don't recall myself going to that place,
But then we were there and you looked so happy,
It was enough for me.
There, the air was too warm and choking, your eyes were slightly glazed,
As we danced amongst the others, you were tired and fragile,
You wanted to be here, for what reasons I never understood,
"Here," you said, "is a place with no death,"
"Here," you said, "is a place with no pain."
Smoke was lilting through the tormented aura,
The sound was loud and steady,
You were stumbling and slipping over the floor to a table in the back,
You waved at me to go away, you'd be fine 'in just a moment'
And I danced.
And somewhere in the fog of choked breath,
The passing vision of you seemed strange, "just a moment," you'd be fine,
As the words echoed through my hazy head and the image slipped away,
And the seconds flying lost me and somehow now I think it's true,
Maybe then I danced for you.
The melody had ended, the hour came to find me,
I looked for you again, the darkness was confusing,
I knew we should be getting back, I knew you would protest,
I spotted you suddenly anyway, you didn't seem awake.
I moved across the room and tears carressed my face,
"Why? Why?"
I lifted your lifeless hand and held it tightly to my chest,
Praying that if I held it long enough,
Maybe you would answer...Robbie.
