Reborn

Tears slid like silk from the eyes burning red—
You forced me to hate me and wish I was dead;
And never could I believe a word that you said;
These pretty lies all in my head;

But a new flower blooms—
Alone in this room
I’ll never pretend
Or cry for you again

These cuts have so scarred me—this pale broken skin—
You’ve pulled out my insides; exposed what’s within;
And I was a slave to your every whim—
And victim of each blackened sin;

But a new creature is born
Hailed from this storm
I’ll never be yours
I’ve locked all those doors

You let me believe the sweetly spoken lies—
Allowed me to become the thing I despise;
Each true dark intention cloaked and disguised;
This sinister look in your eyes…

But I’ll rise up from the flame—
A phoenix reborn!
Take back all your blame—
And sew up what you’ve torn!
