"Hello!?" His voiced echoed across the thick woods.

He was lost. He had been lost for over three hours now. It was getting dark out, and he was getting tired. He continued after nightfall.

The forest was getting thick, full of trees and plant life, it was hard to walk through. The air, even at night time, was sticky and humid. It was hard see more that two feet away. Although the night was dark, and the forest was thick, what prevented effective eye site more so than any other factor, was the thick fog.

'Perhaps it is not even fog.' Eric thought. 'It is more like steam. Thick, never ending steam.'

When looking into the occasional moonlight, Eric could see the steam rising. The steam never ended. In it's thick eternal mass of un-comfort. Eventually, he gave up. He sat against a large tree, and fell asleep. He knew it was too hard to navigate these forests at night. He slept little, but when he woke up, the sun was out. To Eric's disappointment, the steam was still there. The sun was illuminating the steam, making the forest glow with a strange yellow tent. Eric could see no better during the day than at night.

He laid there against the tree thinking. Thinking about how to get out of here. Thinking about why there is no animal life, no sound. Only trees and steam seem to exist in this horrid place. His thoughts were cut when he heard footsteps coming this way.

He darted to his feet.

"Hello?" he said in a voice with obvious signs of nervousness.

A man about Eric's height walked into eyesight. He was wearing a black coat, with a red shirt. When his face could be seen clearly, Eric noticed the man was around the same age as himself. Twenty-four. He had long hair but not like that of a rock star, he looked casual, as if he could be one of Eric's co-workers in the office. His face was calm, and relief could have been seen in both their eyes. Although the man didn't look like he was very prepared for a long hike, Eric felt comfortable.

"Hi" the stranger said in a calm and warming voice.

"I'm glad you found me, I've been lost since yesterday." Eric replied.

"I'm sorry, to say, that I'm lost too."

Eric coughed wildly. "What's with all this fog?"

"Beats me."

"I'm Eric, what's your name?"

The man walked away, out of visibility. "Michael, you can call me Mike."

"W-wait! We should stick together. Wait!" He ran into the direction where his new acquaintance walked.

That was the last he heard of Mike the rest of the day. Eric spent the day wondering around, yelling Mikes name. 'Why did he leave?' he thought. 'He knows where he is going as well as I do.'

Eric spent the night in the forest again.

He woke up in the night, to an odd sound. It was humming. Deep humming. It did not sound as if it came from a human vocal box. Eric knew it had to be from some sort of animal. He walked toward where the sound was. He stopped when he heard deep breathing. It sounded as if it where right in front of his face. Huge eyelids opened, revealing bright, yellow eyes; each one was about the size of Eric's head. Eric put his arms in front of his face to block out the light, his eyes were not adjusted to the light yet. The beast who wore the bright eyes hummed. This hum was much more hostile than the first. This hum was frightening. Eric ran quickly, adrenaline fueled. Eventually he stopped, the beast was not behind him. He laid against a tree, to catch his breath and rest. He did not sleep the rest of that night.

A bit after sunrise it rained. It was a wild rain. Although the air was still thick, it rained as if a hurricane hit. There was however, no wind. The forest was still calm and lonely.

Eric decided to find a place to hide from the rain. Soon after he began walking, Mike walked into site. Eric never felt more relieved in his life.

"This way" Mike yelled over the rain, "I know a place we can get dry."

Eric followed him into a small hole, which led into an enormous cave. Lightning hit a tree outside, which fell in the way of the hole.

"Shit!" Eric's voiced echoed throughout the caverns.

He tried pushing the tree out of the way, but there was no hope.

Mike remained calm. "Don't worry, I know another way out."

Mike led Eric through the caverns. Eric wondered how Mike knew where he was going so well, and why the cavern was illuminated so well, there is no visible light source anywhere. Most of all, what was that monster last night? Every time Eric engaged into conversation with Mike, Mike did not respond. After hours of travelling throught the cave, the two lost hikers found a small door, about five feet tall. It was made of old, rotting wood. A faint red glow could be seen under the cracks.

"What's going on?" Eric asked in a frightened voice.

"I'm not sure, this wasn't here before." Mike replied, "This is, however, the way out...I'm a little scared, you open it first."

The voice wasn't very convincing, but Eric obeyed. Upon opening the door, the sound of screams coming from tortured slaves were heard, and the sight of fire, demons, and tortured souls was visible.

"Oh, my God!" Eric was shocked and frightened.

"What's the matter, did you not notice the fact that you where dead!" Mikes voice sounded horrifying, "Did you not notice all the time you were in these lands you did not need food? Did you not notice you did not need water? Did you not notice you were in Hell!?" His words seemed to shake the entire cave as if a wicked god was speaking. "That's right, this is Hell and I am the Devil!"

Eric would spend the rest of eternity in terrible pain. Forever damned to the fiery abyss. He would become one of the many tortured souls. A slave to the Devil himself.
