The face was agonized

Tormented and torn

Carved from the breath of a stone

X

Her gasp sunk her lungs when

The face made her cry out

She’d never felt such horror

X

The face couldn’t weep. But.

Its history claimed millions of

Broken hearts; its sorrow held captive

Shattered anguish

X

Her eyes went blank and

Her pupils dilated as the weight

Of the face in her hand

Sent tears spiraling to the ground

X

The face remained in frozen

Thoughts of suicide

Fantasies of hell and

Clawing dreams of serenity

Oh. To. Be. Free

X

Her body went numb as she

C o l l a p s e d

To the floor. And.

The rivers that flow from her eyes

Soon envelope her

X

As she began to drown

The face fell from her hands

And

C r a c k e d

X

A sea of souls

Poured from the wound

The screams were so ear splitting

The earth shook. But.

Somewhere behind a glass world

The face was finally

Laughing.
