A/N:Inspired by the Biblical verse Mark 8:36(thank you THROUGHTHESEEYES)
For What Should It Profit?
"For what should it profit a man if he should gain the whole world
but lose his own soul?"
If he should have fame and fortune where ever he goes,
but loses the kindness of the family he knows?
If he should be heralded by kings and by people of fame,
but forfeits heaven in his quest for acclaim?
Where will he be if he loses his health
because of his fruitful journey to wealth?
And if he rises to the top of the ladder,
If he loses his soul, then what will it matter?
If he rises to celebrity and glorious renown,
Will it matter his heart has be crushed to the ground?
If he's the object of trumpet calls and drumming that thunders,
What should he care if his soul's torn asunder?
For what should it profit a man, should he gain the whole world...
Should he gain pomp and title, with banners unfurled...
If he cannot hold on to more precious than gold...
If he lose his own life and forfeit his soul?
