Who were those guys?”

I’m sorry, but it’s best you don’t know, I don’t want to endanger you…”

If you wanna stay at my house, you need to tell me what’s going on.”

I sighed then reluctantly began to explain all that had happened.

We had made it back to her house safely after the attack. She sat down on her couch and rubbed her temples, trying to understand.

“So let me get this straight, you’re a revived dead guy working for the government against the terrorists AND there’s a guy deep in the government that’s trying to get rid of you?”

“Basically.”

“That doesn’t make any sense, how could they not have caught the guy who did that to you?”

“Payoff probably, the higher-ups will do anything for money.”

“So what are you going to do now that Marcus is dead?”

“Well, I thought at first that maybe we could revive him using the same technology he revived me with but then I remembered that he’s one of the only people who knew how it worked. If I could find this friend of his maybe we could help him.”

“Yes but his bodies not going to last 20 years like yours did.”

“Hm…yeah…the only reason I lasted this long is because of all those weird chemicals Eriks put in my body.”

“Well, regardless, what do you plan to do about him and Symphony? We live in a fairly peaceful area but apparently the attacks are hitting more places.”

“I’ll have to take care of Symphony first, find out what Project Eternal is and figure out who this Vince character is.”

“Is there anything I can do?”

“Not that I can think of right now.”

“Oh, I see…”

“Don’t worry about it, this isn’t your problem.”

“Heh, they shot my car up and you’re telling me it’s none of my business?”

“Sorry about that.”

”It wasn’t your fault, and besides, if it wasn’t for you’re fancy aim I might be dead.”

“But if it weren’t for me you wouldn’t have been shot at in the first place.”

“True, but you gotta look on the bright side, at least it made the day interesting.”

“I guess.”

“Hm…Uh…So…would you…tell me about your girlfriend? I’m interested to hear more about her.”

“……”

“Oh! I’m so sorry, if you don’t wanna talk about it it’s ok…”

“No it’s fine…I just miss her is all…She was beautiful, she had long, brown hair and pretty green eyes...Heh, I still remember the night we met, when we where in the military…she had to come with us to combat practice for some reason and she beat me the first few times I fought her. She was always trying to prove she wasn’t just a push over damsel-in-distress.”

“I see…so you guys became good friends after that?”

“Yeah. After we got out of the military for awhile Karen would come over to my house and hang around with me, Rico, and Jeremy. Then slowly I fell in love with her and finally worked up the nerve to ask her out…Heh, I remember what she said to me….”

What? Seraph, you want to go out with me?! Wow…I really wasn’t expecting this…And you even brought me flowers and got down on one knee, that’s not the Seraph I know! You should know me better than that, I don’t need flowers or anything, silly! Come on, stand up, look me right in the eye and ask again, maybe then I’ll consider it, heehee!”

“After that night we started going out and a year later the president called us in and…well…I can’t tell you a lot of the rest but…the Gunslinger team was formed. We were basically just mercenaries; we even worked for China and Africa, doing some of their dirty work. We never really questioned our jobs…only now do I see how corrupt everything is with the government…I can’t believe I agreed to help them again, after all this.”

“Yeah…things have really gone down hill…Oh, Seraph, if you don’t mind me asking, how old are you? Just as a curious question.”

“Well…hm…I guess technically I would be 45…but I havn’t really aged at all so I guess I could be considered around 25.”

“Oh I see, I’m only 23, trying to make my way from being a nurse to a full-time doctor.”

“A doctor huh? That’s a good job to go for I guess.”

“Yeah…well, I’m gonna head off to bed, I have a guest room that’s just down that hall way you can sleep in, if you want.”

“Hm…I’m going to stay up; if they decide to attack again it’ll be at night. I don’t want you hurt.”

“Oh…ok, but the offer stands.”

“Thank you.”

As she turned around to go into her room, I noticed her long, flowing brown hair, I hadn’t been aware of it before…

When she had closed her door behind her, I thought to myself happily, “Heh, she looks almost exactly like her…she’s even the same age…hah, do you find this as funny as me, Karen?”
