I know you delight in my agony,

All my tears shed in pain.

I know you like seeing my defeated,

Cowering like a beast about to be slain.

You could tear my heart open,

And rip out my soul.

You could torture me to insanity,

Yet without you, I wouldn’t feel whole.

Your chilly, mocking laughter,

Hangs like a challenge in the air.

You know my heart lies in your hands,

This just isn’t fair.

I’m rising in a crescendo of madness,

A sonata that refuses to stop.

I’m haunted by plagues of emotion,

And memories I would have rather forgot.

I recall the fire burning madly in your eyes,

A searing toxic kiss.

The scent of smoke and cinnamon among ashes,

This has to be a dream-something’s amiss.

I was so foolish and blind,

I thought there was a me and you.

But now as the clouds of deceit fade,

I know this was never true.
