Ballerina
She stepped behind the stage’s curtain.
While fingering the costume, she knew one thing was certain.
She was scared, scared as can be.
Because when she peeped out, there were people as far as the eye can see.
“You can’t chicken out now!” she scolded herself.
And with a sigh, she removed her slippers from the shelf.
But while she was lacing,
Her heart started pacing
And when she put on the beautiful dress,
Her nerves were one big mess.
But when she looked in the mirror at the person looking at her,
Something inside of her began to stir.
She knew she could do it as she put up her bun.
She would get through this, doing the best she had ever done!
So when she stepped on the stage, her costume a-gleam
They’d swear later she was the best they had ever seen.
“She was the best!” they say “She put us in a trance!”
“When that very stunning girl began to dance.”
