Thin and white

my face lights

up

at the sight, so bittersweet

my soul, inanimate, takes flight

and simple forms in shapeless white

whilst smoke seeps from my

gaping mouth

attempting

to shout sweet nothings

into the dark

at least it will acknowledge me

and choose not to reply

through courtesy

rewarded with silence I do not deserve

a second breath repays my

debt

exhale and once again

I am left unworthy of your

name

identical twin of the sky-

star-eyed

I wish I could give you something more

an answer to which you desperately

sought

but for now

all I can do is watch and wait

she's falling apart

piece by piece and day by day

dissipate

with my kisses, tar and heart of ash

I promise you this,

just smile once more

and I will give you something

worth living for
