I made it to the warehouse he told me to meet him at. It was next to the museum. They where having a formal party over there with the Mayor. I better stop Sorcerer before he goes for someone in the museum, especially the Mayor. I went in. “Okay Sorcerer I’m here. Where’s Maylu?” The lights turned on and Maylu was tied to a crane over a 50 gallon tub of acid. It seemed too cliché. “Hello Instinct, or should I say Ben?” “Let her go.” “Why?” “You know why.” “I’ll let her go, alright, straight into the acid.” He pulled a lever next to him and Maylu was dropping slowly. “If you want her to live, then join me.” “How can I refuse.” “Good now take off ever piece of technology you have, including your coat.” I took off the coat, the staff, shooting darts, rope, ninja stars, a gas mask, small taser, pepper spray, retractable boomerangs, and boas. I was about to get the dagger when I saw I had a clear shot at the lever, but he can deflect it if he sees it. I thought of a way to distract him. “Wait a minute, How do I know your not bluffing about the acid. He grabs a metal pole and put it into the acid. It burned it off. “I’m not bluffing.” and he gave an evil chuckle. “Okay.” I then threw the dagger hitting another lever, causing Maylu to get out of harms way. “No!” He turned and Pow! I knock him to the ground. I went to free Maylu, “Get the police, quick! My bike is outside.” She ran out as fast as she can. Then when I turned around, Pow! He hit me with my staff. He picked me up and I kick him into the wall. Punches and kicks were flying, He kept attacking with his powers and I kept dodging with mine. Then, he tried to fly away. He broke right through the roof. I grabbed my gear, my dagger, and followed him. I got my boas and threw them at his feet. One of the Boa’s balls destroyed one of the boots and Sorcerer lost control. He fell right though the roof of the museum. The crowd ran in fear. Sorcerer fell right in front of the Mayor. The guards came and surrounded him. As I ran after Sorcerer, I saw he was going to attack them. “Look Out!” The guards were blown away by a gust from Sorcerer. He stood up and faced the Mayor. He created a huge fireball. Before he threw it, I shot some darts at his arms causing him to throw the fireball he made in another direction. The museum was on fire from that fireball. I got the Mayor and took him to safety. Sorcerer was angry.

It was just me and him in that building. The fire grew. Then, he gave an evil grin and a light chuckle. “You’ve changed, not physically, but mentally.” “Because I’ve seen people like you telling lies about truth and justice, and it makes me sick, hearing the same thing over and over, you all think alike. You say you’re the worst, but your just like everyone else.” I began to walk toward him. “Now before I had my powers , I was a lover, not a fighter. Fighting was the last thing I wanted to do. But made an exception on people like you, who wants to do nothing but fight.” He was doing something behind his back, which I couldn’t see. “Now I’m going to do what I believe is right and send you away to hurt no-one else.” “No You WON’T!” He threw a ice sickle at me, and I smashed it as it came by me. We got back to fighting and made hit after hit. We fought like two kung-fu masters. Then at a moment he had me pinned to a wall. “Your pathetic kid, thinking your fighting the good fight.” “I am.” I kicked him off and he flew through a wall into a dark hallway. I followed him. As I entered, there was hardly any light was in there. “Who are you to say what’s right and wrong?” Sorcerer yelled. I turned on my night vision so I can see. “I was wronged in the same way as other people.” “They didn’t kill like you did.” “They robbed me of my dreams. They say I was insane, ignorant, and a fool. They mocked me and my ideas. Do you think I am wrong?” Hearing him talk, reminded me of someone. “James! You were the one who killed those executives, and burned your building down.” He gave a big laugh that echoed throughout the hall. “Yes. It was I who did it.” “You like anyone else don’t have a right to kill them. Those people were innocent.” “Innocent?! Of What?! Take my dreams and flushing it down the toilet. They robbed me of my dream. I could have changed the way the world is, but now they rob me of my chance to do it. I was their judge, jury, and executioner, and I did what was right, and now, I going to do the same to YOU!” he jumped and tried to attack me, but grabbed him and threw him into the wall. I picked him up and he began to beg. “Please, Ben, show me some mercy. You’re a good kid and…” “MERCY! Why should I should I show you mercy when you’ve never showed mercy to those people you’ve killed.” Stared at him for a few seconds, then I dropped him. “I’ll let the police handle you.” As I was walking off. He got up and yelled, “You fool!” He hurled a rock at me. I turned and kicked it back at his head, knocking him out. I got him and we left the burning building.

There was a crowd outside and they were cheering for me. The ambulance, treated me, the police took James, and the firefighters was putting out the fires. I saw Maylu in the crowd, she was smiling and was mouthing Thank You. She then left. As I was being treated, the chief of police came. “Arrest him too, he’s involved in this some how.” The cops put cuffs on me. “What did I say, you get involved again, you will be arrested.” Just as he grabbed me one voice said, “Let him go.” It was the Mayor. “But sir,…” “I said let him go. If it wasn’t for this young man we would all be dead by now.” The police released me. “But sir, him and that other freak caused the fire to begin with, he should be convicted of arson.” “No, he didn’t start it, Elemental Sorcerer did. I know, I was there. This young man saved my life.” “But…” “No buts, I hereby relieve you as Chief of Police.” “What?” “Get him out of my sight.” The officers took him away. “Young man, you have done a great deal for this city, and we thank you.” “It’s what I do.” “I like to make you an honorary member of the police force.” “I like that sir, but I can’t accept, I do things my own way and the police have these rules and regulations, it’s nice but I can’t accept.” “Well, what would you like then.” “I would like to keep defending the city my own way, sir, if you don’t mind.” “Not at all, you can do as you please. Instinct, Thank you.” We shook hands and I jumped off, changed, and went back home.

The next morning, I was watching the news about the events last night. Turns out that the rock I kicked at James caused some brain damage and amnesia, so he forgot who I was. The whole town recognized me as a hero. The Mayor appointed a new Chief of Police, and everything was fine. Maylu is suppose to leave today, and she still had my bike. I was waiting for her to show up. Then, the elevator door rang, it was Maylu. “Hey.” “Hi, Ben, here’s your keys back.” “You going soon?” “No.” “What?” “I decided to stay a couple of weeks.” “Why?” “What do think my first reason is?” “Me.” “Yeah. Listen, about what you said yesterday, would you really give up all your love to let me live?” “Yeah, everything I said, I meant.” “That’s real sweet.” “Yeah,” I paused for a moment, “I’m sorry for everything, you have the right to be mad at me for not telling the truth to you.” “It’s alright, I shouldn’t have overreacted about you, I’m sorry too.” “I guess we’re both sorry.” “Yeah.” “I beginning to see more clearly, focus on one thing at a time. Seeing what happened yesterday, I can’t get involved in a relationship. But know even when the worst can get between us, we can still make it work, we just have to believe it will. What do you say we give it another try?” I waited to hear her response. “I would love to give it another try.” She embraced me in her arms, then she kissed me. “We can do it.” said Maylu. “I going to miss you when you go back to Japan.” “So am I.” Then I heard sirens blaring. “I gotta go.” “I know. Be careful.” I followed the sirens as fast as I can.

Rarely does fate draws you a wild card. Fate gave me a big one. People say, power can corrupt a person, make them worse then they were before. Those people who use power in the wrong way are the thieves, robbers, and psycho’s on the street. With power, you have a choice, use it right, use it wrong, or don’t use it, and lose it all. Power, doesn’t mean the super powers I have. It could be your intelligence, your love, your friendship, your kindness. I did what I believe is right and use my powers to do the right thing. Help those who really need it, and kept the city safe from villains like Sorcerer. I may be one person doing this alone, but I hope I can inspire others to do the same thing. I will always be a lover, not a fighter, but I would fight if the occasion calls for it. Believe something good will work for you and things will be better. With my power, I hope to make this city a better place. Not just for me, my friends, my family, or girlfriend, but for those who can’t defend themselves. I am a hero to these people. I am Instinct.
