dragonflies & sunkisses

and we were ( together )

sitting outside in the dusky wind (sugar)b l o w i n g
sunkisses into your firefly hair
we whisper-exchanged labyrinthine math equa-
tions on the acidwashed bleachers
(you didn't know i wasn't concentrating
on the homework
) the boards were nailed down
more carelessly than they should have been--unsteady and
ancient-staircase-rickety with coffeet(a)inted fingernail marks
and those bruisecolored penscratches scoring the grainysurface--

maybe they were a little too weak like we thought they were.

and ( i'm incapable around ) you;

fairy-lovely-green-eyed proportional
to the curves of your slender(pixietaleprincess) waist
you made me feel .grasping;
i was waiting(/wantingtoknow)and then
somehow patient enough to watch the

d r a g o n f l i e s melting in your gaze

we were:

so young and it was too beautiful for words

-- i had to let it go.
