Disclaimer: I don’t own the song ‘Heaven’. And I can’t remember who it’s sung by… but oh well! I put the stupid disclaimer up already!!
Ch. 1- It’s bigger then a World War.
Heaven is the whole of the heart and Heaven don’t tear you apart…
“Celeste,” said a booming voice, “you must go down there and stop the demons from destroying earth.”
“Yes, sir,” a woman replied, kneeling in front of the voice.
“We are counting on you. If you cannot complete this mission, then your wings will be stripped from you.”
Celeste winced slightly, her wings fluttered a bit.
“Do not worry master, you can count on me. I promise you that I will not mess up this time.”
“Very well. The fate of Earth rests on you.”
…Yeah Heaven is the whole of the heart and Heaven don’t tear you apart…
Celeste nodded and bent down; kissing the ground in front of the bright light the voice was coming from, before falling head first to the land below her. As she cut through the air, her wings spread out with a swirl of angelic white feathers. Each wing expanded twice her body length. Celeste soared through the air, searching the land for where to start first. She found a meadow surrounded by forest and a river. ‘Well, this is as good of a place as any…’ she thought and she gracefully landed.
The angel looked around and concentrated on the surrounding areas. ‘Ah. There we go,’ she smiled, turning to her left, ‘I’m defiantly sensing fear and distress that way.’ She walked to the start of the forest before remembering something. ‘I should probably disguise myself…’ Celeste looked down at her wardrobe. She had an airy looking white top, form fitting white pants with silver armor on her elbows, knees, shoulders, and torso. With a nod of her head she now wore something similar to her angel clothes, only it had a human flair to it. Her armor was gone, her shirt became longer, and a silver belt appeared around her waist with a sheathed sword attached on her left hip.
“Ahh…,” she sighed, stretching a bit before continuing towards the town, “much better!”
Her wings had retracted into her body and the only trace that she even had them was a pair of wings tattooed on her back. As she walked, she wrapped her waist long golden blonde hair in a high ponytail. She arrived at a village up in flames, people running around screaming, demons causing chaos.
…There’s too many kings, wanna hold you down…
“Alright,” she cracked her knuckles, “time to kick some demon ass.”
Drawing her sword, she sprung into action. Celeste ran straight at the village entrance, taking out several lesser demons. The angel was stopped by a crowd of demons in what used to be the villages market place.
“Okay guys,” Celeste swung her sword in intricate swirls and circles, “we can do this the easy way or the hard way… you choose.”
The demons ignored her voice and charged at her. She sighed and took her stance, awaiting demonic impact.
“I guess you want it the hard way…”
Stabbing the first demon in the stomach with her right and whipping a dozen with her left she took out the first wave. Wiping her blade quickly on her pants, she jumped into the air and landed with her back to a saloon. The angel fought on, unaware of her audience.
“Sire, she is very skilled in the art of demon killing,” a hooded figure said to his master, “is she human?”
“No you fool,” the master spat, “can you not tell? She is an angel. Part of the Angelic Warriors; she is one of the best. Her name is Celeste.”
…and there’s a window gone underground…
The hooded figure sat on the roof of the center building, his master standing behind him to the left. He studied her. ‘She is very beautiful. Her fighting…I’ve never seen such moves before! Even from the other Angelic Warriors. She is different…’ he thought, admiring the young angel. The master turned away, about to leave, but before he did he spoke, “Zask… if the demons cannot take her, you dispose of her.”
Zask stood and bowed, “Yes, Sire.”
He watched as his master kicked off from the roof top and flew high in the air. Turning back to the village fight, Zask saw that Celeste had killed most of the demons. All that were left were half a dozen lower class demons; the angel sliced through them within seconds.
Celeste leaned on her sword and wiped some sweat off her face.
“Jeez… all those demons and none of them were able to give me a good fight,” she said quietly and slightly annoyed.
Zask smirked, ‘Guess this is where I come in.’ He jumped down and silently snuck up on the angel. Celeste looked up, ‘Something’s coming…seems powerful.’ Right in front of her stood a demon. The demon was very handsome. He was tall with dark brown, straight hair-most of it tied in a ponytail at the nape of his neck-and chocolate brown eyes. He stood, waiting for the angel to do or say something.
“Who the hell are you?” she asked.
“Such language coming from one who serves God,” he ‘tisk-tisked’ her.
…there’s a hole in the sky where the sun don’t shine…
“Just answer the question.”
“I am a demon,” Zask said, “I thought that you would have figured that out. I guess Angelic Warriors are falling in skills these days.”
Celeste tried not to let her temper get the best of her. Her fists clenched at her sides and her breath came out in angry puffs.
“What do you want with this village? Was it you who sent those demons to attack and kill these people?”
Zask shrugged, “Maybe I did, and maybe I didn’t. Why should I tell you?”
Celeste growled softly, “Because, I’m an Angel who can kick your ass back down where you came from.”
Zask just laughed, “Is that so? Let us see then.”
He spread his legs shoulder length apart and raised his arms in a fighting stance. Placing his right hand on the hilt of his sword, he waited for Celeste to make her move.
Celeste took the bait and resumed her own fighting stance. Her right leg stepped and crossed her left. Drawing her sword she held it straight up in the air. Then, she sprung into action. Leaping at Zask, she aimed her sword at his chest. Zask saw through this move easily and dodged.
“Is that the best you can do young one?” he snickered.
“No, I’m just warming up,” the angel shot back. She ran back at him and slashed at the demon’s body only to be blocked each time.
…and there’s a clock on the wall, it counts my time…
The demon laughed as he countered her attacks, “Really, this is child’s play. Go back home angeling, that’s where you belong.”
This only made Celeste madder. She focused her energy into her sword, making it glow white. She circled around him, each staring at the other, waiting for the next move to be made. Celeste brought her arm behind her and pressed her sword close to her back. She stepped back a little before sprinting at Zask. Jumping into the air, the angel delivered a hard kick to the demon’s jaw and he went down. Quickly, Celeste straddled the demon and held the tip of her blade to his neck.
“Do you still think that I am a weakling?” she spat.
“Heh heh, you think that just because you have hit me that you’ve won?” he smirked, “The Angels have gotten cocky over the years haven’t they? Well, allow me to teach you what a real fight is like little one.”
In one shift move, he pushed himself over so now he was on top of the angel. Zask pinned her arms down and bent down close so they were now nose to nose.
…there’s a song on the air with a love you line…
“You know, if you weren’t my enemy I might think of making you mine.” He smirked again and kissed her. The angel wrenched her head away from him, ripped her arm out of his grasp and slapped him. Zask was shocked for a moment; his head turned to the left and a red mark forming on his cheek.
“You know, I was going to let you go but now I think that I’ll have to kill you.” Zask stood up, pulling Celeste up with him. He dragged her over to a wall and pressed her against the wall so she couldn’t move. Celeste grunted as she felt something on the wall jab her back, “Ahh…”
“Don’t worry little Angel. I’ll make it nice and painless,” he whispered in her ear. The demon stared her in the eyes as he brought a dagger up and pressed it against her neck, “any last words? I would hate for you to die without a last word.”
Zask released enough pressure on the dagger so she could talk. The angel thought for a minute, trying to formulate a plan to escape.
“Hey Zask,” she said, smiling and looking as irresistible as possible, “I would hate to die without getting another kiss from you.”
Zask snorted, “But you slapped me the first time.”
“That was only because you caught me off guard.”
The demon considered this for a moment. This would be a good thing to brag about, getting to kiss an angel. He would be the talk of the century back home.
“I’ll make it worth your while,” Celeste smiled as she leaned forward slowly.
“Alright, since you asked so politely.”
Zask closed the gap and pressed his lips on hers. Celeste smiled as the demon kissed her. She pressed her body close to the demons’ and heard him drop the dagger, becoming enwrapped in the kiss and wrap his arms around her. The angel laughed in her thoughts as she carefully maneuvered their bodies so that it was Zask had his back to the wall. Celeste broke the kiss and looked at the demon, smirking.
“Looks like you’ve been fooled,” she said as she jammed her elbow into Zask’s collar bone.
“Well… I applaud you. You have managed to trick a demon. Now what do you plan to do?”
…and a face in the glass and it looks like mine…
Celeste was reaching for her sword as he talked. Her hand stopped as it touched the blade’s hilt. She looked at him, taking in his features, studying his face. The angel released him from her hold, turned and started to walk away.
“Wait,” Zask shook his head, surprised that he was set free so easily, “Aren’t you going to kill me?”
“No.” Celeste said, not even turning around.
“Why? I mean, I’m a demon! I kill mortals, cause chaos, burn things; any of this sounding familiar?”
“I know. But I’m not going to kill you… at least not yet.”
With that Celeste kicked off from the ground and took flight, leaving a confused demon standing in the middle of the smoldering village. The people were starting to emerge from their hiding spots and Zask knew that he had to leave. But the angel had sparked his curiosity and he decided to follow her.
Expanding his own leathery demonic wings, he covered himself with a medium strength cloaking spell and flew after the Angelic Warrior. Zask followed Celeste for the rest of the day.
‘This girl must be made of energy or something! Her speed is incredible, and for her to keep it up all this time?’ he thought.
…and I’m standing on ice when I say that I don’t hear the planes and I scream at the fools who wanna jump m y train…
Celeste picked up the screams of terror from yet another village that was under attack. She had already stopped at three villages after her encounter with Zask and was getting a little tired of all these demons. ‘They just don’t know when to quit do they? Stupid demons…they’ll be sorry they ever messed with our mortals!’ the angel seethed with hatred as she touched the ground. Zask sighed in relief as he landed after the angel but then he gaped in annoyance and disbelief when Celeste broke out in a sprint towards the village. After yet another battle between the Angelic Warrior and a small horde of low to middle class demons it started to rain.
“Great! Just great,” Celeste scuffed, “now where the hell am I supposed to go?”
“You could come with me,” Zask said, leaning against what was left of a building, “I know where you can stay for the night.”
Celeste jumped at the sound of his voice but quickly hid her shock and went back to her sarcastic mode.
“And tell me oh Demon, why should I trust you?”
He shrugged, “I’m not asking you to trust me now am I? I’m just merely answering your question of where to go from here.”
He looked up at the sky as it rained harder.
“I would suggest getting out of the rain fast or else you’ll risk getting a cold.”
She snorted at the comment, “Like Angels could get colds.”
…Heaven is the whole of the heart, and Heaven don’t tear you apart. Yeah, Heaven is the whole of the heart and it don’t tear you apart.
Sitting down around a roaring fire sat Celeste and Zask. Zask had convinced the angel to get in some shelter and brought her to an abandoned village. Once they had found a house that wasn’t completely destroyed and didn’t have millions of leaks, they set up their ‘camp’. This included a fire and beds which were as far from each other as possible. Celeste glared at the demon who sat across the fire.
“Achoo,” she sneezed.
“Angels don’t get colds huh?” Zask chuckled.
“Shut up,” Celeste glared at him.
Zask just laughed at her. The angel shook her wings, water droplets flicking off. She shivered and wrapped her giant wings around her trembling body. Zask looked over at her, concern in his eyes.
“Are you sure that you’re going to be okay?”
“Oh course I will,” she snapped, hating that a demon was taking pity on her, “I am an Angel. Not a weak mortal.”
Zask held up his hands in defense, “Alright, alright, calm down. I was just asking a simple question.”
Celeste eventually fell asleep. Curled up in a tight ball, her angelic wings wrapped around her slender form. Her breaths came through her mouth in shallow gasps. Zask looked on, getting more worried as the angel coughed.
‘I care not what she says. She is sick and needs help.’ He crawled over to the slumbering angel and picked her up, setting her down in his lap. Celeste rested her head against his chest and sighed contently. Zask stroked her head and noticed that she had a fever. He wrapped her tight in a blanket and held her close. Eventually, the demon fell asleep as well.
Celeste was still mad at Zask for doing what he did last night. She had woken up, comfortable and feeling a whole lot better. When she looked around she noticed that she was in a certain demon’s arms with his face inches from her own. Zask found the whole thing hilarious and was still chuckling about her reaction, which was a high pitched scream of ‘WHAT THE HELL DO YOU THINK YOU’RE DOING YOU PERVERT!’.
“Still mad at me, Angel?” the demon asked, humor laced throughout his words.
“I don’t know,” her voice full of sarcasm, “what do you think?”
This only caused Zask to laugh again. He went up to the huffy angel and put an arm around her shoulders in a friendly manner.
“Oh come on Celeste,” he shook her a bit, “won’t you forgive me?”
Celeste jerked away from him and huffed at him.
“But how can you resist a face like this?” Zask jumped in front of her and put on the saddest face you could ever imagine.
Celeste made a face at him, “Easy, like this.” With that she turned and started away. But Zask had been doing what he’d done all day whenever the angel tried to leave, he followed. Whether he did it just to annoy her, or for some other reason, neither was sure. But nonetheless it didn’t stop the demon from following.
“Why are you following me? I’m your enemy! Has that not sunk into your thick head yet?”
Celeste had turned around and her eyes gleamed as if she was going to start crying, but the rest of her face showed pure hatred and annoyance.
“Why am I following you… that’s a good question. I’ll ponder that one while I walk next to you.”
“ARGG! Will you just give me a straight answer…? FOR ONCE!”
“I guess,” he smirked, “but you know, you are extremely cute when you’re angry.”
Celeste just glared at him and tapped her foot as she waited for his answer.
“Fine, fine, I’ll talk! You got it out of me.”
The angel made no response.
“I’m following you because I’m under orders,-”
“You’re under orders?”
“-I’m in love with you,-”
“You’re in LOVE with me?!”
“-or I’m just bored. Pick one.”
“What?”
“Pick one. I gave three answers off the top of my head so… pick whichever one you like and that’s your answer.”
“I hate you…”
Zask pretended to look hurt. The angel just sneered at him. Zask looked at her, the angel was looking ahead or else she would have noticed what he was up to. The demon scooted over so he was right next to her.
“What are you…?”
She didn’t have enough time to finish her question, for the demon hit Celeste over the head, hard, and knocked her unconscious.

BV- Alrighty! So... I've ALWAYS wanted to do a story around song lyrics. When I was thinking up the idea to this story, I had all the songs playing in the background of certain scenes, so WOOT! Anywho... in every chapter of this story there will be lyrics. Also the thing I love about writing like this is that the lyrics set the mood of the chapter, they foreshadow what's about to happen! (damn Honors English... making me use big words when I don't need to... '')
