Persevere

I look at the path before me

And as daunting as it can be,

This is my chance, my one and only

So I must pursue this journey.

The path is rough, the climbing slow,

And trekking through the icy snow

Many obstacles lie in my way

Yet from this path I shall not stray

Temptations come from left and right

And when I lose my will to fight

I'll look above, towards the light,

And am reminded of God's might.

While others are in blissful rest,

I keep climbing, trying my best.

My fingers stiff, my arms are sore

I'm higher now than eagles soar

My feet are numb, my hands are bare

I can't give up, I'm halfway there

The air so pure, the sky so clear

He's been waiting, and now I'm near

So close to Him, I know He's here

Thus I'll march on, forgetting fear.

As I approach the mountain's peak

To finally meet the one I seek

I hear singing over the top

I've gone so far, I mustn't stop

the last few steps, I dare to trod

Feeling secure and watched by God

I climb up, feeling victorious,

For in front, a view so glorious!

Just when I've found a peace so rare,

I hear the bell, the end of prayer.

Yet I'm not sad, because next time

I'll climb the mountaintop sublime.
