the scratch scratch of your pen

that kept me awake

at three in the morning.

if not

then it was probably the shots

that roused me from sleep

on our lazy afternoons.

it was your addictions

that anesthetized

every semblance of sense

you possess

and gave you your odd ideas,

or so i am thinking.

would you have said those things

if you hadn't been drunk?

i can only wonder.
