cool

He smokes a cigarette
and pretends to be
cool.

Black bomber jacket, sunnies,
the whole shebang,
you know?
But it's never enough
for his peers.

Smokin' hot, dark hair, dark eyes,
dark smoke billowing out of his mouth
like a chimney.
Attractive? Why wouldn't he be.
(and no, there shouldn't be a question mark there)

Tar has never felt
better than when it's being
absorbed into his
blood. Killing himself for popularity,
don't be stupid (don't cough, honey).

Cancer is it cancer
is it coolness is it worth it
is it just him?

All he's ever wanted is to
fit in (like a hand in a glove)
but life's just cruel that way.

A casual nod, a casual,
'Hey, 'Liss,' cool nickname for the
most popular girl in school
(but it's never eNOugh)

He smokes a cigarette
and pretends to be
cool.
