Entry 4: A New Friend

The past few days have been very strange. The stars and I have come upon what was a town earlier today. The residents here are unlike anything I have ever seen before. They look like a combo of part human part lion sort of like a werewolf. They lived in little shacks and lived off the land. They called themselves the Tau tribe.

When I first entered the tribe I walked in and everyone turned and looked at me. A group of guards came out. They were all wearing loincloths and wooden staffs beside one who looked like he was the leader of them; he had gold plated armor and a steal staff that glowed brightly in the light. The leader of the guards began to speak. “You there, come with us.” I then started to utter out few words “You guys can talk…” before I was done they grabbed me. The stars looked at each other then darted at the Tau guard leader, when he then quickly turned at them and gave out a loud roared. The scared stars then flew off to safety knowing they couldn’t help me now.

They took me too what was almost like a jail. They removed my sword which the leader of the guards took. I looked around the cell and saw that I wasn’t alone. There was another Tau member from the tribe in the cage. His dark gloomy face turned towards me then he started to speak. “Ah, someone to spend some time with, what did you do?” I looked back unsure what he would do, I spoke back. “Nothing, I just walked into town.”
“I see, Othniel has changed a bit.”
“Who?”
“He is the leader of this tribe, the Tau tribe.”
“May I ask who you are and why your here?”
“The names Leonard, lets just say that Othniel doesn’t like my views. Now who may you be?”
“I’m…” One of the guards then shouted “You there the leader shall now see you and decide your fate.” He then unlocked the door, Leonard then said “Good luck, stranger.” and turned away. The guard then grabbed me by the arm and pulled me down a long hall till I ended up out side again. We walked across the village. It was filed with lots of huts where families lived; I saw little cubs playing with each other. It looked like an old Indian tribes. We then came to a huge hut. The guard opened the door and had me enter. In this room I meet the Tau guard leader again. I stared at him and saw my sword hanging at his waist. He looked at me and said “His greatness shall see you now.” and opened the door. I walked into the room. In front of me was the leader of the tribe, Othniel. The room’s walls were covered in painting from what seemed to be other leaders. As I walk towards Othniel, he soon yelled, “Stop there stranger. Are you the one they call the Watcher?” I looked up at him confused and replied. “Yes, some do refer to me by that name but why…” Othniel quickly interrupted “I see. guards! Bring him back to his cell.” Two guards then came from both sides and grabbed me by my arms and lifted me out of the royal chamber and brought me back to the cell.
“Welcome back.” Said Leonard
“Yeah, that was strange.”
“Oh, what happen?”
“He asked me if I am called the Watcher, then he had me thrown out after I told him I was him.”
“Wait?! You’re the Watcher?”
“Yes, a few have called me by that name.”
“It makes sense now.”
“What?”
“Well you know I am Leonard, I use to be the Tau guard leader till about a week ago. It was when this man came to see the king. He wore a black cloak; all I could see was his dark brown eyes give of this cold stare. He asked to speak to Othniel and we let him. I heard what he had asked Othniel, he wanted us to take care of the Watcher. I went to speak my fears of this man being evil, but Othniel would not listen to my words, instead he threw me in this cell.”
“That man, what does he want?”
“You know this man?”
“I meet him once before, he kidnapped one of my friends. I had a battle with him and almost won till he disappeared. He seemed to know a lot about me, I don’t even know how I got here.”
“Well it looks like you will have lots of time to think about it now.”
“Yeah, I guess I do. Who is the new leader of the Tau Guards?”
“Oh Leander, he use to be one of my guards till I fired him for his corrupted evil ideals. Why?”
“He had my sword, I must get it back.”
“That wouldn’t be my main concern right now. It getting late, lets go to sleep”
As I slept Vavek soon awoke me. I then stuttered to myself “Vavek how did you get here?” I guess I spoke too loud because Leonard awoke; he sat up and looked at me then looked at Vavek then whispered “You have a star friend?” I answered “Well three exactly.” Vavek then flew out the window and came back with Pandora and Dagda after a few minutes. They all seemed happy to see that I was alright, Vavek then leaded them to help get the keys to the cell. I turned to Leonard and said “Looks like we are getting out of here.” Leonard then jumped up and walked into the light.

This was the first time I saw him out of the darkness standing. He stood at around 7 feet tall his fur was a darker color from the rest, almost a grayish orange. He was very well built and looked like he could kill me with one hand but his face showed kindness like a little kids. I could see how he was the Tau guard leader.

He move to the bars of the cell and looked down the hall. He then whispered “Damn, they better hurry Leander is coming.” I jumped up too look but I saw nothing and replied confused “I don’t see anyone.” He then whispered “Shhh, I can hear him.” The stars then came back with the keys to the cell where I took them and unlocked the door. Leonard then said to us “You guys leave I’ll take care of him.”
“No, he has my sword I need it back.”
“You can always get a new sword.”
“It’s not the same, this one was a gift.”
“Well I can’t promise anything.”
I turned to the stars and pointed them to leave, the then shock in a “no” motions and made their point that they where staying too.
Leonard shouted “Here he is.”

Leander then appeared in the door way, not as tall as Leonard but still huge. With my sword hanging by his waste and his steal staff in one had that was around 7 feet long. I then looked around and saw that was an old wooden broom in the corner and yelled over to Leonard “I take it your good with the staff?” Leonard said “Why, yes.” I then ran for the broom, when Leander saw what I was about to do and he dashed forward with his staff forward ready to attack me. Leonard then side kicked him in the side; the kick flew him into the nearby wooden table causing it to shatter and have splinters of wood fly across the room. I grabbed the broom and tossed it over to Leonard.

Leonard took the broom and broke off the one end and tossed it to the side. He then yelled at Leander “Show me what you have.” Leander jumped up from the floor with wooden splinters all over his body and yelled “I will kill you.” He attacked Leonard with his staff but Leonard was able to block all of Leander’s attacks from his steal staff with just a broken wooden broom. As they battled across the room taking blow for blow I saw my chance to grab my sword. As I went for it Leander turned and whacked me with his staff across the stomach and I flew into the near by wall and cracked it. As I feel to the floor in pain the stars then came to help heal my wounds but I soon struggled to get back up.

With my head being hit so hard I could barley see straight. It was like I had way too much to drink, I looked up at the battle and just saw too blobs attacking each other. Soon things where getting clear again just as I saw Leonard swing his make-shift staff blocking Leander’s steal staff attack. Which shattered Leonard only weapon. Leander then walked over to where Leonard was laying on the ground and stood over him with his staff pointed to Leonard’s neck and started to talk. I was hit to hard to make out the words but as my vision slowly focused in I dashed for my sword again.

This time I grabbed the hilt and pulled it from its sheath and jumped back. Leander turned around and sung his staff at my head. I ducked under it as it made a whirling noise right above my ears. I then jumped up and sliced Leander’s face with my sword. Leander stumbled back a few feet, took his hand and whipped the blood off his face and looked at it. He stared at me and yelled “How dare you!” he then launched forward with his staff pointed at me ready to kill me. As I watched my death soon coming Leander soon dropped to the floor with his staff less then a foot of impale me. As his body dropped I saw a knife in his back. Leonard found a knife on the floor that I guess was on the table that broke and used it too stab Leander as he was attacked me. I stared at Leonard with relief. He soon said “We better get out of here before they find us.” I grabbed my sword and sheath as we got ready to leave.

We ventured out of the town in the blackness of the night not being seen. Leonard then brought us to a secrete location of his out deep in the forest. It was like a little underground house. I said to him “Where are we?”
“This is where I lived before I joined the tribe; I use to come here all the time. No one knows of this place so we can stay here for a while.”
“What shall you do once we leave?”
“I was wondering if I could travel with you, I am very interested on whom this man is and I believe I will find out more if I go with you.”
“It would be great if you came with us.”
“I have a question.”
“What?”
“Could I see that sword for a minute?”
“Sure.” I handed the sword to Leonard took the blade out and picked up a rag that was laying on the counter and whipped off the blood that was spilt onto it and tossed the rag aside. He starts to look at it closely then he looks at the blade and read “Egbert” he then became very shocked and asked “How did you get this sword?” I looked at him and said “From them.” and pointed to the stars “Why?”
“This sword is the great Egbert, which many tales speak about its greatness.”
“Oh, what is so special about it?”
“It is also known as the bright edge and is said to have great powers from the stars.”
“I see, good thing we didn’t leave with out it.”
“Yeah.” Leonard put the sword back in its sheath and handed it back to me and said “Well it about time that we got rest, we can take off tomorrow.”

Leonard showed me a spare room for me to stay in and gave me a change of clothes a shirt and pair of shorts. As I put them on I saw how much smaller I am then him. They looked liked a long sleeve shirt and pants when on me. The shirt was a cream color where the sleeves went slightly past the elbows; the shirt ended at me knees. I used my sword to make the shirt shorter and the sleeves so the ended right above the elbow. The pants where black and quite baggy but they sat well around my waste, they went past my knees and 1/2 way down my shins.
I just bid goodnight to Leonard.

Well I have written enough for the night I must rest for the long day ahead.
