Casey walked away, depressed at that sudden thought.
“Why! Why do I always have to feel like this? Why is it that everyone else is so pretty? No one likes me!” Casey mumbled unhappily.
She sat down on her usual spot in the neighborhood playground, on the rocking horse. The rocking horse has been her best friend since she was three. Those days had to be her best days. Her parents doted on her, Jake played with her and most of all, she had friends.
It’s been eleven long years since she last spotted a friendship with a human being now. The last time she had a proper friend was when she was three, but she had to leave her. Jane Lee was her only proper friend since she was given birth to. They used to live side by side. Until she was three though, Jane was diagnosed with cancer and her parents had to bring her back to Singapore for treatment. Casey was dejected then, having lost her first and last friend. Jane was never heard from again. Casey had no idea whether she was still alive.
At the thought of Jane, Casey cried again. Why was it that Jane had to leave her? She was pretty sure Jane would grow up to love her, despite how ugly she was and all.
Several neighborhood kids walked past Casey. They all screamed rude names at her.
“HEY LOSER!” “HELLO CRYBABY!”
Their words rang deep in Casey’s mind. It depressed her more than ever. They lingered around, alternating between calling her names and running around her laughing. Then… Jake came to the rescue.

A/N: Hey people. I’ve decided to come back to fictionpress after a long long hiatus. Do pardon this shabby installment of the series. I promise to come back with better ones the next time round. (:
