lay tattered and worn
on the ground

marks
of footprints
dirt
tires
worn from
the rain

addressed
to no one
it caught
no one's eye
but it lay there
waiting.

I found that letter
today
i opened it
it was addressed
to the world
the world
that failed
to know
it existed

i read
the pages
scrawled out
in earnest
smeared
by rain
written
by someone
who wished
to be heard
but couldn't
find their voice
except through
words
written
on the pages
of an
unopened letter
addressed
to a world
that will
never
reply.
