Reflections on the Eve of Destiny

Vines grip my heart steadfast

My head tips back; oh I hope this lasts

Visions form and dreams collide

On and on we swim in the tide

Sighs wrap us up in an embrace

Your eyelashes are the softest lace

Suddenly, we meld lushly into one

I feel your thoughts, strong as the sun

We raise our hands to the sky

And touch the moon, up so high

She is the spider who spins the web of night

And makes us dance in the velvet moonlight

We try to pluck a star from its place in line

It won’t budge and we take it as a sign

That players in the game of fate and destiny

Will look up at the stars and someday see

That in grabbing stars we are incapable

And trapped in destiny, we are immovable
