Insomnia

Thought seeps through me,

it is caffeine and cannabis combined in my

non-anaemic blood.

Midnight had crept by unnoticed,

hidden in shadows created by some dimmed reality.

Sleep too is lost. It’s silent sounds marred by the

constant rain, washing away useless fantasies like dirt.

There is no rest outside. The weather and earth

do not sleep like me. Underneath. Overneath.

Somewhere a sun still shines, rising and falling

as it paces out of my view, neither a matchstick nor a candle.

I am passive now, the tensioned energy

transferred elsewhere as I sort thought from truth

with my blue eyes wide open and wet.

I want sight to be honest in the blanket of night.

Tomorrow I will be tires

and will sleep through the day.
